Wireless headsets

So, I'm looking for a wireless headset to use with Skype. I have an adequate wired one, but I find it kind of limiting to be sitting at the computer all the time when I'm talking to someone - I want to be able to walk around, go out to the main room and sit on the couch, whatever.

My requirements, in order of importance:

- Good range. Preferably 50+ feet, capable of going through a couple of walls.
- Volume control on the headset itself.
- Comfort. I like the nice padded earmuff designs; the tiny geek-chic one-ear Bluetooth things don't really appeal to me.
- Price. I don't need $300 noise-cancelling Senns; as long as the sound quality is OK, the cheaper the better.
- Good battery life.

So... does this sort of thing even exist? I've googled around a bit, but the only things I seem to find are $200 Plantronics things designed for telemarketers.

Bluetooth is probably exactly what you're looking for. They make normal sized bluetooth headsets, but those one-ear designs can't be beat as far as comfort is concerned.

Beware, though, that using a Bluetooth headset with Skype uses a significant of CPU cycles, so using it for gaming will more than likely hinder your system's performance.

Heh, here's a way to hack a DECT phone so that you can attach a normal headset to it... if that's possible then maybe you could do the same on the other end and make a normal mini jack output for the sound at the base, or maybe an old modem could intercept the sound?

I think there are also some VoIP gateways/routers which you can connect a normal phone to...

Of course I am. At least, I would if you had a headset, you lazy git.

Maybe I'll look into Bluetooth stuff, then. My CPU cycles aren't used for much - I don't game anymore. How good is the range on a typical Bluetooth headset?
