I know the RB1 instruments can be used in RB2, but can they go the other way?

I'm late to the party, and I don't really need two sets of instruments - so if possible I'd rather get the RB2 bundle (presumably the hardware is better?), and just buy the RB1 disc.

All of the original Rock Band peripherals are compatible with Rock Band 2 for the same console. Similarly, the newly designed peripherals for Rock Band 2 are backwards compatible with the original Rock Band.

You can simply import the RB1 songs and play them in RB2 anyway. With the exception of three crap-tastic covers.

And you can just rent RB1 to import said songs. No purchase necessary.

What console are you getting it for? Because unless it's for the Wii you can just export all of the songs to RB2. So, uh, just borrow RB1 from someone and pay the 5 bucks for a full export.

Alright, so since discovering that the Guitar Hero: World Tour instruments will also work with RB/RB2 (and vice versa), I'm wondering which package I should actually go with.

So, for those of you with experience with both GH:WT and RB2, which bundle of instruments should I buy for playing with all three games?

While technically all of the instruments are interchangable, it is somewhat awkward playing RB with GH drums.

As for guitars, if you use a RB guitar with GH, you won't be able to fully use the slide mechanism. Which is for the better, though, because the slide thing on the GH guitars is retardedly imprecise.

Me, I'd go with RB. For you, I'd recommend you buy the instruments for whichever you plan to play more.

I'd go with the RB2 "full set" and the GHWT "guitar + game" set, because imo I prefer GH guitars over RB guitars
Plus you'll have two guitars with this setup

Are the drum pad silencers recommended for the RB2 drums, or was that mainly just a RB1 issue?

If you want to play RB/GHWT with an actual electronic set like a Roland TD-6, go with the GHWT drums because it has a MIDI converter in the back.

Hey, Run to the Hills was much better than the Number of the Beast DLC cover. It would still be nice to have, unless we're going to get a live concert for Iron Maiden in the same vein as the AC/DC one.

As for instruments, I wasn't a fan of the GHWT drums so I'd go w/ RB2 instruments. If you really don't like the guitar, then pick up an old Xplorer for cheap.

Man, it took me forever to get through RTTH on hard drums. I'd taken it round to a friend's and was playing with a group of people who'd never even seen Rock band before, and they were all playing on Easy and loving it, worrying about going up to Medium. So I set up to show them how I'd been stuck on RTTH on hard for ages because it was so ridiculous and passed it first try. :P

they actually had issues where they made it harder for the pads to read your strikes and youd miss allot of notes.
