I currently use Xbox Live with a DSL modem. It works, but the NAT settings are strict, and my ISP claims they aren't blocking the ports and I need to buy a router.
What if I just set up my firewall with the right ports open, and then manually assign my Xbox the same IP Address as my computer? Although I checked and the auto assign IP for my Xbox is the same one that gets assigned when my laptop is plugged in. Apparently my modem only has one port, and I unplug it from my laptop when I want to get on live.
Is there anything else I can do apart from buy a router? I really don't want the extra expense.
Also, do changes to my firewall under internet sharing in OS X affect my Xbox if i enter my computer's mac address as the alternate Xbox mac address?
I guess thats what i need answered at this moment.
