God, it is so satisfying to be playing a Big Guns playthrough after my pacifist playthrough. When a Vault 101 Security Guard was all up in my grill, did I take it? I knocked his fucking head off with a baseball bat. It was also the greatest thing when I was 16 to beat Butch so hard that he and his gang backed off in fear.

Someone needs to photoshop a Deathclaw leaping at Pony's character from behind.

I'm not quite sure what this "Rock-It Launcher" everyone is talking about. Do you guys mean the "Teddy Bear Cannon"? Because teddy bears are quite possibly the most lethal weapon ever invented by man.

Ok, so how easy is it just to play this without completing the game? do you have do do a certain amount of the MQ to unlock the map / content or can you just sandbox it? I was dissapointed to find out completing it ends the game (unlike Oblivion etc...) so would avoid that I think if it's not too hard to do so.

I was hoping you'd be able to find some sort of log of the early days.
First you get the slow descent into madness from being left completely alone except for this remarkably easy to use cloning technology. Then things get worse and worse as the clones don't turn out as planned. Eventually complete chaos rules, as the clones slaughter the original, being unable to do much more than create new clones and devour the others to sustain themselves.

    Anyone?

Wouldn't be a bad idea to learn on the Oblivion Construction Set, but you know, the GECK is coming out this month so unless you have a lot of free time you wouldn't have much learning opportunity before the GECK is released. It's really pretty easy, I have about zero programming skill and picked it up without too much trouble (trial and error, of course, but an easy learning curve).

It's easy as hell. The only thing you need to unlock is the ability to wear power armor. Also, as mentioned a bazillion times, the game basically tells you: "Right in there's the final encounter". Just don't go.

Spoiler for the Replicated Man quest:
To get both the Wired Reflexes perk and the Android Plasma Rifle, as well as end up with good karma, tell Harkness about how he's a robot and prove it to him, then offer to kill the man from the Commonwealth and take the Plasma Rifle.

Then, go to the man from the Commonwealth and tell him that Harkness is the android. After getting the perk, as he walks away, vaporize him and his bodyguard.

I finally got around to wandering down to Arlington. After trudging through tunnels in D.C. for the last week, the journey down there was a welcome change of pace.

Now at level 14, I also feel rather badass most of the time. My first Super Mutant battle was a "holy shit holy shit holy shit!" affair. Now it's pop pop pop and off with their heads. So that's fun.

Pony’s character is pretty much exactly the look I’m thinking of going for in my next playthrough: the Wasteland Cowboy. Duster + Sheriff’s Hat, Small Guns, Unarmed, and [something else - ideas?]. I’m only going to use revolvers and hunting rifles + variants (but not Lincoln’s Repeater because it’s too powerful). Gonna wander the Wasteland all Clint Eastwood style, meting out my own brand of justice.

How do you get to the Arlington Cemetery? Do you have to go through one of the various subway tunnels? I can't seem to find an overland way to get there that isn't blocked by rubble.
I'm looking for the Luck Bobble Head, it's the only S.P.E.C.I.A.L. one I'm currently missing.

You have to go north past the citadel (if you are coming from Arlington library), and then south through a subway station. You basically have to go all the way to the north of the highlighted part of the map that seems to mark Arlington.

So I discovered a cheap trick last night, involving Fort Independance.
The guy outside who takes tech for .306 ammo, stimpaks, radaway and frag grenades. If you hand in a bunch of stuff you can pickpocket it all back from him and just hand it in again. I walked away with 100+ grenades for like 5 rifles. I felt so cheap but oh so right.

Also, I could turn in my broken
    Alien Blaster
and it was fully repaired when I stole it back.

I can't imagine playing this without a decent repair skill. I know some people say "I can't live without X skill" but I personally think this is the one skill you should max first because it solves so many problems right away. By having fully repaired weapons you do so much more damage at lower levels and it applies to all weapon types, your armor provides more defense, and you also don't have to pay for repairs on most items. Unless you're playing a non-combat type role for a playthrough, you need this skill.

Modelling and texturing are skills that have nothing to do with Oblivion, Fallout, or any other game. If you can model or texture for one game you can model and texture for another. It's like asking if writing for Oblivion is difficult. There's no such thing as writing for Oblivion; there's just writing that you intend to put into Oblivion and writing you don't intend to put into Oblivion.

Yep, I just started with GameFly myself.

The manual is free online through Steam. Just find the Fallout 3 page and there's a link in Resources or something that'll let you download it without owning the game.

Are there any mods that make repairing take time? It's not a big deal, but I do think it's silly that I can strip down a pair of assault rifles and effect repairs instantly. Having it take time (and not be possible in combat) would make having a weapon breaking in the middle of a fight a pretty hairy experience.

I usually try to do my first playthrough of a game "vanilla" without mods, even for balance - but I'm seriously tempted to find something that will let me use regular ARs to repair my Chinese AR. Reduce the effect, sure, but at least let me combine them.
