Ahoy. Just about to order a 60GB 360/Fallout 3 bundle and I'm looking for a fun multiplayer game for me and my housemate to play. Preferably not an FPS (he gets motion sickness, the big pussy) or sports games. Any ideas? How's Worms on XBL?
wormsXBLA is a pretty standard version of worms, similar to the dreamcast version.
i'd say a co-op game like gears 1 & 2 but those might make him sick aswell...
EDF! EDF! EDF! Check out Earth Defense Force 2017 for two-player co-op madness. There's also the obvious choice of Rock Band/Guitar Hero.
I haven't really put time into Worms on XBLA, but it's only $5 now and while it's apparently not as good as Armageddon, it's hard for something not to be worth $5. I'd also lovingly suggest Bomberman XBLA and Castle Crashers.

Should've mentioned that I already have GH:WT on the PS3, but cool, thanks. I've heard some good (and atrocious) things about Castle Crashers. Earth Defense Force 2017 sounds fun

The only bad press Castle Crashers has gotten is because of online netcode bugs and problems—I don't think local multi should be affected, and you obviously won't get any lag sitting on the couch. It's one of the finest brawlers since Streets of Rage 2.
EDF is mindlessly fun. It's the best worst game you'll ever play.

Sweet. Thank you, sir. XBLA seems to be the way to go for cheap, fun thrills
Another vote for castle crashers. Hell, almost everything in xbox live arcade has local multiplayer so it's worth a look. I'll dig out the classics like TMNT, Aegis Wing (yeah I said it!), Heavy Weapon, and Assault Heroes, etc. every so often. There's so many arcade games with really awesome local co-op I'm not even giong to bother to list more.
As far as retail goes:
Dynasty Warrior series- Or samurai warriors, or warriors orochi, or whatever they're all basically the same fucking game. There's just something insanely addicting with getting/upgrading weapons/skills and unlocking new movesets/characters and shit. I'd stay away from Dynasty Warriors 6 though, wasn't a fan.
Marvel Ultimate Alliance- mostly for the comic book nerds. The amount of characters in this game is insane. I also enjoyed it quite a bit. Regular melee is kinda pointless, so it ends up becoming a powerspam fest but it's good fun. Multi can be a tad frustrating though cause combat gets interrupted a lot with going back to Hub world/story shit
Culdcept Saga- strategy board/card game. I enjoyed the hell out of it but it's fairly niche title. Also annoying because you end up having to unlock cards for BOTH profiles. So if one guy plays more than the other, he's probably going to have an awesome deck versus your sucky crappy deck

Checked it out on Wiki, sounds pretty cool, but it's not sodding out here. Thanks, though.

Guitar Hero/Rockband- take your pick.

If you like Fable that is.
Future sports game that is a combination of baseketball, and hockey. Plus you can beat the crap out of your opponents.
