Short and sweet; I'd like to be able to save videos from various online sites and watch them on my Ipod. Perhaps foolishly, I picked up Realplayer Pro, as it touted this ability, however I've noticed that it saves the files as .flv's, and my Ipod (8 gig video Nano) isn't having any of that shit. I've tried googling the solution, but it often leads to questionable sites. There are supposedly "free" .flv to .mov/avi/mpeg/whatever converters out there, but the ones I've tried usually crap themselves midway through the conversion, and I'm wary of paying for yet another piece of software that may or may not deliver on its promises.
I'm already down $40 for Realplayer, and figured I'd ask here before I found myself down further on questionably useful software. I can save the videos to my computer, but that's not really all that helpful. I'd like to be able to save interesting things for viewing on the go, rather than remaining seated at my desktop.
Also; no, it's not porn.
First they came for the Muslims, and we said NOT TODAY, MOTHERFUCKER!
I use keepvid.com. Once i download the video, i just convert it using a program called "Handbrake" which you can download in 2 seconds. Once you bring the program up, just choose the file you want to convert (the one you got from KeepVid.com) and change it into a .wmv or .mp4 for your ipod. You can choose the video conversion quality as well depending on how much memory you want it to be. SO!
1. Get the URL of the video you want
2. Put that URL in the empty field on KEEPVID.com
3. Open handbrake and choose the file to convert to .wmv, mp4, avi etc.
4. Choose video quality, framerate etc.
5. Hit convert
6. Done! Unless you have iTunes... i feel sorry for you :P Im a happy Zune user

Only downside (besides the crapton of ads on the site) is the conversion is server side so you have to upload all your files.
Media-convert has never failed me.
EDIT: forgot to add that the max file size they convert is 150 mb.
