Heat Detecting?

Ok, my media machine is now giving me trouble.

I have a machine that I generally use for media services. Rather than paying Tivo, I run cable through the machine to record shows, edit video, etc. I've noticed that at times, the machine freezes or goes into massive slow down.

Now, everyone pretty much attributes continuous freezing to three things: memory, heat, or power. I've run memtest86 and the memory seems to be fine. I'm kind of sketchy on the power supply, but one thing I can't measure is the heat.

Inside of the case, it doesn't seem to be hot and I have all of the case fans going. There is no way, though, for me to know exactly how hot it's getting in the case and how hot the motherboard and cpu are getting.

Are there any programs out there that I can install that tell just how hot these components are getting without installing a thermometer or anything else?

Search Google for Motherboard Monitor 5 (or MBM 5).

It's a windows program that checks the motherboard sensors on Fans, CPU Temp sensors, etc etc to give you a live view of your current heat statistics.

It's no longer officially supported by it's creator, but I think there is still a fairly large following of people updating it with new Motherboard info.

Everest Home Edition is the successor to Aida32 and even though it was discontinued a year ago, it can still provide a ton of information about your pc. In the sensors section, it will auto detect and provide temps for motherboard, cpu, gpu, and hdds.
