SOCOM PS3 any good?

Its one of the potential games for my brother with our new ps3 for xmas, and I'm wondering if its worth the cash? Hes into those kinds of games but the reviews on Gamerankings aren't too favorable but on the other hand it comes with the new headset.

So opinions?

    My opinion is that metacritic is always a good source, if you don't know about it.

    Well the thing is I know the game had a rough launch. I want to know if its good now.

    It's worth the headset alone.

    However, it is also a solid game.

    I play it all the time.

    It's a solid enough game, but there's nothing special about it at all. It's pretty bog-standard multiplayer military fare, but if you've exhausted the usual suspects and are looking for more it'll fill that nicely.

    I was in the beta, and it was a mess. Unless it's changed quite a bit since release, just skip it and wait for the next real SOCOM.

    The headset is a must have, though. If you can get a decent trade in amount or know if you can resell it online, go for the SOCOM/Headset pack.

    I was in the Beta as well.

    It's been highly polished.

    The glitches and load times are a shadow of their former selves.
