Ok, need some help here because I'm trying to avoid a wipe.
CH Products sells game controllers and provides a program called CH Manager to allow you to assign different functions to the buttons.
Now, because of Vistas security the old program didn't work. So I looked for an update and there was one, for 64 bit. So I downloaded and installed but it didn't work. So I looked again and saw that it was 64 XP only. Ok fine by me. I forgot it and just waited for an update that would work. Now it's out and here's where the problem starts.
Version 4.3 of the program (latest) will not install over 4.2 (installed). Uninstalling the program apparently does not uninstall the registry data which does not show up on regedit because of the security protocols.
Soooo I can't uninstall the program completely and I can't install the new program.
I have heard that someone installed 4.0 over 4.2 and then was able to remove it through uninstall but I have not had any luck finding 4.0 . I have 3.6 and am going to try it but I don't expect much luck.
Do I have options here?
(BTW yes the website did say the program was specifically for WinXP 64 but every other program for WinXP had worked so why wouldn't this one. Tech support told me I was fucked. At least they were honest, but they can't recommend the down and dirty options so I'm asking you guys for them.)
And thanks.
I'm building a real pirate ship. Really. Wanna help?

Sometimes I have the most horrible dreams. Or maybe they are real. Do dead men dream?
Does anyone know if I have any other options?

If not, it's still a great source of vista how-to's.
