My roommates and I are making a trip down to Boston for St.Patty's day to go see Dropkick Murphy's. Now, I was just wondering if anyone has been to their annual Saint P concert. I was wondering if it was 21+ to get into the concert itself, does anyone know?
Me and my three roommates are 21 or 22, so it's no real problem, there are just some 19-20 year old girlfriends that wish to come, who might be barred from attending for not being of-age. If anyone could tell me, that'd be super swell. And bars in the area, does anyone have information if they'll be like Canadian bars and allow under aged people inside but not let them drink (stamp, wristband or whatever to mark under aged people)?
Also, any names of cheap places to stay that could be shared would be much appreciated .
I would GUESS the Dropkick concert is 21+, but shouldn't ticketmaster or the venue be able to tell you flat out, for reals?
As for the bars, it's hit and miss. Some places are pretty strict on the 21+ thing, so much so that they don't take mass liquor ID (as oppose to a regular license). Others....not so much.
If the bouncer/doorman turns your young gf's away, ask where a good place you could all go might be (if he's not super busy that is). They'll probably be quite willing to direct you.
It says on the site that all the shows are all ages.
No, they don't let in people underage and 90% card at the door after dinner ends.
And there are no cheap places to stay in Boston much less one on St. Patty's Day. Stay outside the city and you'll get a much better deal. Book soon as St. Patty's is kind of a popular day here.

Yeah, this is all true. However, given that it will be St. Patrick's Day, change 90% to 99%. Boston gets a bit crazy on St. Patrick's Day. Also, good luck getting in somewhere after the concert. My experiences here in Boston on St. Patrick's are that you need to get somewhere early and stay put, because it takes a long time to get in and get drinks the later on in the evening it gets, but YMMV. Depends on where you go.

Oh and don't forget the cover charges. If you're hitting anything vaguely Irish you're looking $25 and up.
Jillian's, 145 Ipswich Street. I don't go drinking much, but I went there with some friends a few years ago. Good drinks, lots of pool tables. But don't bring the underaged ones, it's a bad idea in general if you get caught. Not worth risking.
Wasn't planning on bringing them to try to sneak them in, just bringing them and not letting them drink.
But thanks for the tips guys, glad I found out. Yeah we were talking about looking outside the city itself for the place to stay, so we'll probably end up with that.

If I remember right Jillians will not let in Underage folks after 10 or so.

I think it's earlier than that even and don't they have a dress code?

Be sure that it's more than a feeling about going, never want to leave on a whim. Don't expect to go and just find some rock and roll band, a smokin' girlfriend (if you do, remember the foreplay, it helps for a long time), party, etc...
Maintain your peace of mind when you go. Very important. Don't look back, have no regrets about your trip. Once you're feelin' satisfied about having made the trip, just cool the engines, find a chick named Amanda, and either hitch a ride or walk on back home.

Good point, I think you're right about that.
