Wireless Input Devices

MisanthropicMisanthropic Registered User regular
I'd really like to get a wireless keyboard and mouse for my new Macbook Pro, but the last wireless/keyboard I got (approximately 2 years ago) were awful. Have things gotten better? I do quite a bit of video editing and plays video games, so accuracy and quick input is a must. Bluetooth is especially important so I don't have to use up a USB slot with a receiver.

Has anyone had especially good experience with any Bluetooth mice/keyboards?

Doesn't apple make a bluetooth mighty mouse?

I guess I could add that if you're like me and you use the keyboard a lot bluetooth can be annoying. It has this wakeup delay. But as far as precise tracking and so forth, they're the same as everything else. I use a logitech vx wireless.

I loathe the Mighty Mouse with a passion. It's completely personal preference, but I need two actual buttons to press, else I right click when I want to left click and vice versa.

I'm considering Apple's Bluetooth keyboard. I just want something that doesn't have to be tethered to my laptop on a stand.

Well both Microsoft and Logitech put out some nice bluetooth mice. But you'll find your options a bit more limited then if you were to go rf. Yeah I can't stand the mighty mouse either. So I hear you there.

On the mighty mouse, you need to lift your left finger or else it left clicks even if you click the right side. Drives me nuts.

i also need a bluetooth mouse

this new targus seems to be only non-tiny option that works with a mac (pcs have the ms 6000 i think but it has terrible mac os compatibility)

unless there is some mouse out there with bluetooth that DOES come with a dongle but DOESN'T require it in which case i'd love to know about it

Dell has a keyboard/mouse combo (I dunno if it's just a rebranded Logitech) that is very nice. Bluetooth. I use it at work and love it.

the key here is no dongle, though

    look what i just found!

    http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=8795119&type=product&id=1205537714540

from doing a bit of research it seems to be
    -a very decent mouse
    -fairly sensitive
    -clicky scroll (i like this)
    -plastic is a bit cheap
-doesn't turn off by itself, and eats through batteries because of this (several weeks per)
    -takes 2 AAA's

i am really tempted to buy it, because that is REALLY cheap and with regard to batteries, between remembering to turn it off when you're leaving the house and getting some quick rechargables (which are a fraction of the price difference between this mouse and the others), it's really not a big deal at all

It's about the same size as a mighty mouse. Can't believe I forgot that one, I just saw it in best buy yesterday. I don't know much about it other than reading what you just posted. In regards to it not turning off, that's a good thing, it eliminates the slow "wakeup".

The Dell Combo Keyboard/Mouse seems okay. I might just go for the Apple bluetooth keyboard and grab a different mouse. Numpad isn't a huge deal.

Possibly the best wireless keyboard in existence:

Also incredibly overpriced, but man, it looks so sexy.
