I wish I could give more details, but it was announced right this second from a currently running conference.

Hope they get Level 5 to do it.

Expect Wii sales to double in Japan starting tomorrow

Or today, I guess it depends on what time it is over there

How much more could it possibly make? The damn thing is going to peak early and then burn out. :/

    Ack.

Well it probably won't be out until 2010...I might have a Wii by then.

At least 9 in on a system that I have.

I really can't foresee myself playing DQIX in one sitting on the DS, so I'm glad it's going back on a console at least.

There's a trailer shown, all that's mentioned is an angel that looks like a Dragon Ball character (well duh). That's it.

I just hope, REALLY hope, it's actually a DQ game. I'm talking turn based.

I've been wanting a turn-based RPG with Wii controls, so I hope this is the one. And not, you know....minigames or something.

The X in Dragon Quest X is really the letter X, not the roman numeral. It stands for Dragon Quest Xtreme Party Gamez.

Capcom has press release that Monster Hunter 3 isn't going to appear on other platform. Good thing is this, Monster Hunter 3, Dynasty Warriors 3, and Tales of Mothership will pretty much guarantee japanese support in the long term.

That's ridiculous. The Wii is a kiddie system. It would never get a game that could be described as Xtreme.

Hmm...impressive, and not unsurprising, given the Wii's install base and audience. Dragon Quest has always been a great mainstream RPG, and I fully expect the Wii title will be cool.

Or at least, better than DQ Swords.

What's next Skies of Arcadia 2 and SMT4 on the Wii? It's like Nintendo and those developers haven't been happy with my investment into the DS.

They want me to own a wii. They won't be satisfied until N owns my soul.

DQVIII was pretty, but I really can't get past the boring system or DBZ-ish characters.

It's nice that this is coming out on the Wii, though. With this and MH3 (and that VanillaWare title I keep forgetting the name of), Wii already has a good lineup for next year (assuming DQX is next year).

I'm not really upset though. I do most of my gaming on the PC and DS nowadays. A Wii purchase down the road wouldn't kill me.

If it were on PS2, yes, they would look stupid.

As it stands, they're rendered with SNES sprites, which really looks better in my eyes.

But yeah, actual artwork for Chrono Trigger looks fucking retarded.

Man, that doesn't even make sense. The characters don't look they're inflicted with Down Syndrome, the art is certainly competent enough not to look like it was drawn by someone who was the product of familial relations.

I wasn't crazy about 8, the only Dragon Quest I've tried, but I might give this one a shot, though I admit I'd rather this was a PS3/360 game instead. (For the pretties, naturally, and I'm skeptical that waggle will actually add something to this kind of game.)

Edit: ninja edit, see original down therev I guess

What doesn't make sense about it? I don't like Toriyama's art style. That's it. I hate the look of Dragon Ball Z, and that's exactly what Chrono Trigger looks like (and DQVIII).

This is a drawn Chrono I hate: http://pressthebuttons.typepad.com/photos/uncategorized/crono.jpg

This is him conformed to SNES standards, getting rid of all that style essentially: http://www.videogamesprites.net/ChronoTrigger/Party/Crono/Crono%20(Front).gif

    Shocking!

I for one hope they abstain from the waggle route.

DQ8 was quite the looker on ps2, so I have high hopes for what they can pull off on the Wii.

And for the record, I despise Dragon Ball. But I love Toriyama's designs...

Yeah, I'm doubtful it will actually add anything of substance, but I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt here. If it's just the menus again, it would really be better on the other systems.

Ditto. Every time I played DQ:Swords I'd imagine its visuals in a "proper" Dragon Quest game.

    Wat?

DQX on the 360 or PS3 would look pretty much exactly like Blue Dragon.
