Hey guys,

I'm a Staff Writer over at PS3 Attitude and I'd like to let you know about a fantastic competition we're running in conjuntion with Ubisoft.

Here's a list of the wares up for grabs. Note: we have THREE prize packs to give away.
  • A copy of Prince of Persia (PS3)
  • A limited edition numbered print - each print is one of only 200 in existence! (Winners will receive a random choice of print; we have two of Elika and one of the Prince)
  • Collectors Edition game guide from Prima, which includes a collectible art print
  • The Art of Prince of Persia book
  • Prince of Persia ‘Stories and Secrets’ comic book
  • ‘Pixelated Prince’ stickers
  • 2 x ‘Jumping since 1989′ T-Shirts
  • Prince of Persia poster

To enter, just leave a comment on the post (http://www.ps3attitude.com/new/2008/12/prince-of-persia-launch-day-competition/) telling us, in less than 12 words, why Prince of Persia is on your Christmas Wish List. This page will be closed for comments on Thursday 11th December at 18:00 UK time so be sure to get your comment in quick in order to be in with a chance.

Just some quick background on us: PS3 Attitude is a daily news site with a difference as we donate all of our revenue to worthy causes. This year we sent all of the revenue collected through AdSense, game sales' commission and merchandising to GamesAid, a U.K. based charity. Next year we will be expanding our magnanimous operation and going world-wide. Hopefully we'll be able to send a cheque this time next year to Child's Play. We're looking into it but, so far, it's looking positive.

In an effort to preempt some questions you might have - here's a short "mock" Q&A

Q. This is spam. I've never heard of your site. You're just fishing for hits.

A. I can assure you that the competition is very real. The site has a modest readership (nowhere near as big as PA though!) and is growing steadily. Competitions such as these are ways to increase that readership and generate more money for our charities. You are welcome to check the site (and its history) to see that we are in fact "real" and that the prizes on offer do in fact exist. Also, if we were fake you can bet that Ubisoft would have shut us down by now. The opposite is happening. We also have an interesting PoP interview with Ubisoft on the site where we discuss everything from early talk about making Eilka a playable character to the ancient religions of Iran. Yeah, it's pretty eclectic! We also have some cool exclusive PoP wall-papers. Check it out. I think you'll be convinced that we're genuine. Still not convinced? Check this then: http://threespeech.com/blog/2008/12/prince-of-persia-launch-day-galore-at-ps3-attitude/

Q. How do I know you give your revenue to charity? This is spam. I've never ...

A. There is no bone fide way to convince you that we are in fact what we say we are: a fully philanthropic gaming website. I will say this though: we get a lot of exclusive content and news from publishers quite often because of our mission statement. Obviously we are working with Ubisoft for this competition but we have worked with other big publishers in the past. The day we start living it up on the charties' dime you can be assured that the publishers (and Sony) will stop talking to us. It's in our best interest to be above board so we go out of our way to be as transparent as possible with respect to our donating practices.

Q. Why would Ubisoft gives such prizes to a relatively small site?

A. A good question. We have a good relationship with Ubisoft. They understand what we're trying to do and we like their games so it's a symbiotic marriage of convenience. Your convenience that is as we're not allowed enter the contest ourselves and the prizes will be going to the readership!

This is one of many ways Ubisoft gives a little back. Fans of the game get some cool wares. We get some hits. Charities get some extra money. It makes sense on so many (non-malevolent) levels.

Q. OK, the site is real. The competiion is real. The prizes are real. This is where you tell me that it's only open to the U.S.

A. The Staff Writers at PS3 Attitude are disbursed globally; like magnamimous nomads gifting their time and energies freely in a quest for great games and a greater good. We have writers in the U.S., the U.K., Greece, Ireland, Sweden, etc. Therefore it would only be fair that the offer was available to all - irrespective of geography. You win? We'll get it to you. Guaranteed. We don't care where you live.

Q. I sign up. Comment. You then spam the crap out of me. Great. Thanks for that.

A. We're a gaming site with a large charity element so, trust us, we're not in the business of spamming people. The only time you'll be getting a mail from us is if you win. Sign up, comment, never visit the site again. We're cool with that. You'll never hear from us again. The page impression will still equal money going to charity.

Of course, we'd love for you to stay around and watch the site grow but this thread is not meant to promote the site. The purpose of this post is to promote the competition. If we was simply whoring for hits we would have posted about the site before (like 18 months ago).

Q. Congratz on your first post loser. This is fake.

A. I've actually seen this about three times since I've started promoting this contest and, if I'm being honest, it's been quite disheartening. Yes, this is my first post. Yes, I registered on the PA forums JUST to promote my competition - where you could win some great stuff and kids get more money. So, go easy on me, eh?

Q. Why are you here? Why not promote elsewhere? Maybe some more specific PS3 forums?

A. This contest has been promoted on numerous forums and was mentioned by ThreeSpeech (see link above, oh what the hell, words are free, here you go again: http://threespeech.com/blog/2008/12/prince-of-persia-launch-day-galore-at-ps3-attitude/).

I decided to post here at the last minute (hence you'll notice the competition is closing TOMORROW) because I've been a big PA fan for about 7 years now. When we got talking about donating to Child's Play a lightbulb went off that I should probably mention the competition here on the PA forums. The simple fact is: I want as many people to know about this contest as possible. I want hundreds of comments. I want a real buzz about the competition. I want hits. I want to write a big cheque to GamesAid this Christmas thanks to you guys checking out the site and giving your support. I want to see a real fan win the exclusive prizes and I want PS3 Attitude to grow and be more popular. I want a lot, as you can see.

Q. PS3 sucks! No Games! LOL!

A. That's not even a question but thanks for playing anyway. Seriously though, yes the game is for the PS3 as we are a PS3 specific site. The day we start www.xbox360attitude.com you might see some 360 prizes on offer.

I think that's it. If anyone has any further questions or comments feel free to respond here and I'll address them or if you want to send me a mail about anything in general you can get me at brodiesan@ps3attitude.com

Thanks for your time and I hope you check out our cool competition and help us generate some extra money for a myriad of worthy causes - especially at this time of year.

Regards,

Brodiesan

That's all very nice but you did not ask our permission to advertise your site here, and we have a rule against such things. Sorry. Talk to Robert Khoo if you want to advertise on the forums.
