My reaction to this is great, but airlines will need to put in seat power outlets for laptops for it to be meaningful.

or you could charge your battery before you get on the plane.

what's the average battery life on a laptop? 5-7 hours?

With wireless networking on? It's much shorter than that.

I think mine would last 2 hours at most.

less than six hours on average for a newer laptop with decent specs

this makes me particularly happy since I just bought a netbook, and I'm about to start a job where I will have semi-frequent business flights.

This was pretty much inevitable and is a nice advancement in general, but I feel kinda sorry for businessmen who constantly travel and will now probably be expected to e-mail work and stuff on flights.

Haha, picturing 25 guys sitting in the same section yelling at each other.

It's not really a punishment. If you're in the office you're expected to work. If you're on the road, it's a paid break? You're not forging steel here, you're just emailing which isn't exactly painful or laborious. Most of my colleagues who travel frequently spend their time working on planes anyways (which includes reading/answering email offline) because if they didn't they would have to spend late nights catching up. Being able to email on the plane would be a benefit, not a hassle.

I honestly doubt that you'd be able to play a game in real-time. The lag will probably be horrendous.

That's why the guys will all be yelling at each other.

MORE DOTS! MORE DOTS! OK, STOP DOTS!

I can also imagine gamers being arrested when they arrive for failing to turn off their laptops for landings.

    "Sir, turn off your latop."

"Sorry, I can't. I'll lose DKP if I quit before the raid is over."
