I'm on Reggae binge right now. And since we have a metal thread I figured it would be fun to have a Reggae thread. Or not....guess we'll find out. But I have my pandora set to some nice reggae picks. Some of my faves are:
obviously a prerequisite. Also his kids Ziggy and Damian
Inner Circle is fun
Matisyahu. Uuuuh are Jews allowed to sing Reggae?
Maybe more sca or whatever but these guys are the shit:
Lovin these guys too
311 is just fun.
And god bless Hawaii for Pepper
Thats not even close to all of the ones I like but I'm sure you guys will fill in the blanks. Reggae! helping white people dance for over seventy years mon!

I have a hate/love relation with Matisyahu: he has some catchy tunes, but his constant yammering about religion annoys me (more so than the Rastafari yammering of other reggae artists). I saw him live on Lowlands once and he yelled "Amsterdaaaam" while we were in Biddinghuizen, the crowd was not pleased.
On Lowlands we also saw Alpha Blondie who did a bitching cover of Wish You Were Here.
I think we're better off with leaving ska out of this thread, otherwise I just won't shut up.

These guy's have made cover albums of Radiohead's OK Computer (Radiodread) and Pink Floyd's Dark Side Of
The Moon (Dub Side Of The Moon). Just came across them recently and thought I'd share. (They've done a
really good job, in my opinion.)

This thread has been tainted by 311 and someone needs to fix that.

I can't believe Bob Marley's kids only got a passing mention. Damian's "Welcome to Jamrock" is an amazing album, and Stephen is nearly as good. Ziggy is mediocre though.

I posted the link earlier, but the SNL skit (search for 'ras trent' on hulu or NBC) about a white Rastafarian college kid is not only hilarious, but a damn catchy song.

Hulu doesn't work outside the US.

This is the first time I have heard of this Matisyahu guy... I like it.
Also, is ska dead now? Is there anybody out there who is still doing it?
Ska is always dead, that's how they're keeping it real. :P Streetlight Manifesto have a new album out, Tokyo Ska Paradise Orchestra are flying all over the world and they keep making new records, Pannonia All-Star Ska Orchestra are taking over Europe, Skatalites are still touring. Some Russian ska band had their songs featured on Audiosurf, that was funny.

I'm surprised no one has yet mentioned Bedouin Soundclash, though I don't if they are quite Reggae. Definitely Reggae-ish. I don't know, what do you guys think?

Never heard of the rest of the guys, but then again i'm not too big in the reggae scene.
