Well, if it's clean on the inside and in good, working order, I'd say somewhere in the neighborhood of $550-600.

    $600?

Honestly, there isn't anything really that great about your computer.

cool thats what i was hoping, no monitor with it though, but a CRT is so cheap now that it shouldt really matter.

no, it "isnt that great" its a few years old, im not trying to make it out to be something amazing (which is why i purchased a new one)

you wouldnt expect a guy to buy a top of the line computer and turn around and sell it the next day would you? its used.

lol, and thats numbers that i was afraid of. im actually hoping for $400, which really doesnt seem like a bad deal if you ask me. still plays the majority of games at a decent pace, and when compared to what you would get out of a dell (with a 1year parts and labor) it really seems like a good deal...

i'll keep my fingers crossed, was looking at a XPS on craigslist that was nearly $1200 that was also not that impressive (by todays standards) so maybe that will make mine look like a better deal, i think ill let it sit on there for a few days at $600 and then drop her down 100 if she doesnt get any hits. and then another 100 etc.

I'd pay 250-300$ for that, the thing that mostly bumps up the price for me is the RAM and the CDRW/DVDRW.

Are you also selling the XP CD/key along with it?

CDRW/DVDRW is only $70.00 Canadian new.... I just bought one.

You got reamed. I picked up an 18x LG DVDRW/RAM with lightscribe new for 47$+tax.

A good rough estimate for what to expect from that system is to price those same parts now at the cheapest possible before tax. Then knock off 1.5% per month you've had it.

Yes, Canadian. It is an oem unit though. There is no point in buying a retail box for dvdrws, most shops have software bundles for the oem stuff too.

I think that's a good number to shoot for. Remember, the OP didn't ask what we'd pay for it :D

I think you'd probably be able to sell it for a decent amount.

I would say $600 if you reformat it, and sell it to a friend but if not, I would maybe buy it for about $450.

i'm not trying it hijack this thread, but i have the exact same question. i've got a new computer on the way and i'm considering unloading my old laptop.

    gateway m520X
    windows xp sp2
    80gb hdd
    dvd r/rw drive
intel p4 with hyper threading 3.2ghz
    512mb RAM
    ati mobility radeon 9600 64mb

it's about 2 years old and has served me well, but i don't see any reason to hold onto it. unless of course i could only sell it for a pittance, in which case i guess i'll keep it around.

I guess as a point of reference, I just sold off some second hand system parts individually on eBay. Prices I got were:

    AMD Athlon 64 3000+ Socket 754: £39.99
    Abit KV8 Pro K8T800 AMD 64 Athlon 754 Motherboard: £24.00
    HIS IceQ Excalibur ATi Radeon 9800 Pro 256Mb DDR2 8xAGP: £67.65
1Gb Corsair TwinX XMS DDR RAM Low Latency 2-2-2-5: £29.99

    Total= £161.63 ($308 USD). Not including delivery.

Bear in mind that computer parts tend to cost a bit more in the UK anyway, but on the other hand that stuff is a generation older than most of your components.

I'm not sure if you'd maybe get a better price selling the parts off individually but I don't see why you couldn't easily get $400-$500 for that system.
