I have the PS1 game, and it's pretty good for what it is. It's basically another retelling of the original Castlevania, and it's also difficult. It was originally released on an obscure computer system called the X68000. It was then re-released with some redone graphics and music on the PS1.

Do you youtube searching for "Castlevania Chronicles" and you'll find some footage.

Is this the version that on the PS1 had the ability to use different audio emulators to get the various styles of music? Because if so, this is easily one of the best Castlevania's ever made. It's broken as all fuck in one section (falling bridge part), and it IS extremely hard. But, this is classic goodness. To me, it's the sidescrolling action platformer equivalent of a good-but-hard shmup.

Still no Suikoden? They were rated by the ESRB around roughly the same time for PS3 and PSP.

Also they're totally both Konami games. I would expect Suikoden soon. :D

In the meantime, I'm picking this up tonight.

Yeah, it sounds like it's that version. If anyone wants to test it on the PS3, you have to hold L1 and R1 on the title screen while pressing start, and it should let you choose the different audio emulators. I was always glad they let you do that.

Who's the Rayman aficionado around here? Isn't it maximumzero?

Is the PS1 version of Rayman 2 any good?

Also, we need a PSN thread. I suggest Bamelin be in charge of it.

I thought the general consensus for Rayman 2 is that all versions were good, but the dreamcast one was the best.

We (as in, the PAL region) actually have more PS1 games than the US store, we just don't get any from Konami. Its third party support has really improved over the last year though (with EA and Ubisoft adding some of their games), so hopefully Konami Europe will jump on board soon.

Nice, although since I just replayed it recently anyway, I'm not sure I'd want to play it again. The raft section (with the rising water) always pisses me off.

Rayman 2 is kinda tempting, though.

i just played up through the clock tower and this game has some serious shit going on. i love it. i would kill a dude for konami to make a "retelling" of castlevania 3 in this style. or just a new castlevania in this style at all really.

It's really good. I've only played single player at the moment and while it's really easy and short, it's pretty clear that the multiplayer is where the focus was.

I never played Rayman 2, though I always wanted to after playing the demo on my PC years ago. So I bought the PSN release and put it on my PSP. I'm digging it.

Jesus, PSN has quite a lot this week. I had heard rumors that once Home was launched and done with, they'd be focusing more on the PlayStation Store. Let's hope it keeps up like this.

Two Classics in one week! I just bought both.

Never played it before just now, but if you can get past the graphics I'm having quite a bit of fun.

Also, if Bamelin doesn't break down and make a PS3 thread (as he always has first info on new downloads, it seems), I'm going to jump on making a PSN thread tomorrow night or so.

Multiplayer 2D shooter, in fact it's basically 2D Warhawk. You move with the left stick, aim with the right stick, shoot with R1, use the jetpack with L1 and throw grenades with R2. You can get into tanks and jeeps too.

Go ahead and make one Unbreakable ... with my new job I only have time to post up news release which I'll add to your thread. I actually mostly only get 360 stuff but occasionally the odd PS3 news release makes it's way to my inbox.

Also I'm thinking very seriously about buying Crash Commandos. There's a trailer up on Gametrailers, it looks like a console Soldat. --->> http://www.gametrailers.com/game/9554.html

If I remember correctly the PS1 version of Rayman 2 was slightly different.

Off the top of my head:
    - 800 lums instead of 1000
    - Some levels were modified or removed (can't remember which ones)
    - The choice between riches or the elixir was removed, it gives you the elixir automatically.
    - English voice acting instead of raymanian gibberish.
