A friend of mine needs counseling or a psychiatrist or something, I'm not going into specifics right now. He has no health insurance and lives with his parents. He doesn't have any intention of telling them about why he needs help either, and they're actually going to start asking him for rent next week, so he'll have even less money. We both live in Massachusetts, is there any way for him to get help, at the lowest cost possible, or even free? I've been to a therpist before and recomended that place, but he's convinced that there's no way for him to pay for it. What should he do?
He's not going to college, but I'm going to suggest talking to his parents tomorrow, even though I know he doesn't want to. At this point I'm afraid that my be his only option.
That's good advise; to be honest, I under estimated my folks for the past few years, when I recently sat them down and explained how I was feeling after a recent chain of events in my life, they really came though for me and I got to see how much love a parent can have for a child.
It will really help him to have a friend like you too.

If his parents are not the cause of the issue, maybe it's time to ask them for assistance.
It's super important to offer him support, but don't promise anything you can't come through with.
