Monitor problems

I'm sure this is probably beyond my ability to fix, but who knows... maybe it's an easy fix, so I'm going to ask anyway.
My LCD monitor (a Dell 22" widescreen) is clicking itself on repeatedly and clicking itself back off, with no response from the buttons. It's been going out for about two months now (juddering & shaking screen when turning on from an off state for several minutes before settling back into normal), so I'm thinking this is just the final death throws, but if there's anyway I can squeeze a bit more life out of it (Christmas. Funds are short.) that would be ideal.
