VOTING THREAD: SEMIFINALS

Son of BeyonderSon of Beyonder From BeyondBeyondRegistered User regular
edited November 2006 in Graphic Violence
This is the comprehensive voting thread for Semifinal Matches A and B

You are to vote for the order you predict the competitors will finish in. Points will be given to each competitor based upon your placement. Alongside each selection you make, give a reason. All votes that are posted without an explanation of why you chose that person will not be counted. The explanation does not have to be long, or detailed. For example, you could write 1 – Dr. Strange: he is pretty much powerful as fuck.

Each first place vote is worth four points. Each second place vote is worth two points. A third place vote is worth one point. And a last place vote costs that competitor one point. I will be watching the votes against very carefully.

Please use only the name given in the official tournament thread. I don’t care if you want to call Green Arrow by his first name elsewhere, I need you to refer to him by the name given here, to make voting go faster. I won’t disqualify your votes for this, but please show me the courtesy. I will, however, disqualify your votes for the following reasons:

*Putting the matches out of order – There are only two matches here. It shouldn’t be difficult
*Not fully filling out a match – If you only vote for two people in a match, I won’t count your votes. Make a decision.
*Voting with an alt, or voting twice (Note: accidental double posts are exempt from this rule as long as you edit the votes out of any duplicate)
*Posting any discussion before voting is closed. If you made changes to your votes, PM me.

THIS IS NOT A DISCUSSION THREAD. I need this thread to be votes only, to make it easier to tally votes. Discussion of the battles is to remain in their respective threads, and discussion of these rules can take place in the Tournament Central thread.

All votes that are placed AFTER I close the voting will NOT be counted.

All posts should be in this format:

1: NAME (EXPLANATION)
2: NAME (EXPLANATION)
3: NAME (EXPLANATION)
4: NAME (EXPLANATION)

Any alts that are discovered voting in this competition will be barred from voting in the future, and their votes will be eliminated. Any posts that do not follow the format above will be ignored. Any person that chooses to post anything other than their vote in this thread will have their votes discounted in this thread.

VOTING WILL CLOSE AT NOON CENTRAL TIME TOMORROW

    Match A:
    1. Shade-verstalie powers, impossible to catch and he can depower Captain Marvel
    2. Wonderwoman-well trained warrior with a good combination of powers and equipment, may be able to beat Captain Marvel on her own, but it would be close
    3. Captain Marvel-definitely loses to Shade, could lose to Diana too
    4. Shadowcat-things have stepped up a notch, she could go down to Shade's umbrakinesis, Wonder woman's lasso, or Captain Marvel's lightning

    Match B:
    1. Superman-speed strength and the sense to detect Invisible Woman, he's fought Thor before, so he's knows to pull out all the stops from the start, which means he'll actually being using his speed to it's fullest
    2. Thor-has lost to Superman before, his lack of superspeed is his biggest deficit, otherwise tied with Supes
    3. Invisible Woman-her fields won't stand up to the pounding from these guys for long, even if she does the forcefield inside the body trick that only slows supes down for a brief moment, I have to assume the same for Thor
    4. Gladiator Hulk-HULK STRONGEST ONE THERE...WHERE DID PEOPLE GO HULK KNOCKED FAR FAR AWAY

    Match A:
    1. Shade- Control over shadows, immortal, awesome top hat
    2. Wonder woman- Excellent training, can fight Supes to at least to a standstill, but resistant to magic
    3. Captain Marvel- Diana can beat his ass, Shade will make a quip or two
    4. Shadowcat-She can't really do anything effectively
    Match B:
    This one is very close.
    1. Thor- he can fight Supes, but has the added benefit of some limited magic. Plus, teleportation in a pinch
    2. Supes- He can fight Thor to a standstill, but is vulnerable to magic
    3. Hulk- Can kick some ass, but not quite on the above level
    4. Invisible Woman- Hiding is no longer an effective strat (unless sneak attacks, but that doesn't really apply here) May be able to take out the Hulk, but maybe not.

    1. Wonder Woman: She was born for things like this.
    2. Captain Marvel: And he can take almost anything anyone else can dish out.
    3. Shade: If anyone's going to take him down, it's Diana.
    4. Shadowcat: She may be my favorite character in comics, but she can't do anything here.

    B:

    1. Superman: I don't think you people quite understand that he is Superman. He's everything a hero should be, and I'm not just talking about the powers. He can take everyone else here, even:
    2. Thor: Thor may be the second most powerful hero in Marvel, and his more than capable of throwing down with Supes. But he's lost to him before, and he'll lose to him again here.
    3. Invisible Woman: Sue is ridiculously powerful. Unfortunately, so is everyone else in this match.
    4. Hulk: Look, I dunno about you, but when I have the option to remove Hulk from a fight without taking a punch, I'm taking it.

    1. Shade - Umbrakinesis has carried him this far. Wears a tophat. Oh shit demons of devil darkness.
    2. Wonder Woman - Kickin ass, taking names.
    3. Captain Marvel - Always seems to falter against the A-list super heros.
    4. Shadowcat - Sup doggies, it is so good to go intangible.

    B:

    1. Hulk - Takes out Supes during the forest level after he has been fighting thor.
    2. Thor - Fights Supes, both are weak, hulk is the wildcard.
    3. Supes - Hey look, kryp...wait, no one can bring in extra shit? He'll take out Sue first because he can do it quick without worrying about her getting hurt, then he'll duke it with Thor.
    4. Sue - See above. Either by heartbeat or super smelling her smelly

    1. Shade - Batman may be the night, but Shade controls that shit baby!
    2. Wonder Woman - Boobs! Oh, ultra tough, powerful, experienced, yadda.
    3. Captain Marvel - Shade can mess him up and Wonder Woman will put him down.
    4. Shadowcat - Blink should have won! Not you *cries* She's screwed.

    B

    1. Thor - Getting hit with a sledge hammer by a god will mess anyone up.
    2. Hulk - He might not be at his best but he's no slouch and won't take long to "Hulk up."
    3. Superman - Is he even allowed to punch a girl? Seriously though he's facing three very powerful individuals and it's not impossible for Supes to get pushed, punched or thrown out of bounds.
    4. Sue Richards - If anyone decides to go after her it's only a matter of time before she crumbles.

    1: Shade (is a pwnstar)
2: Wonder Woman (Superman, minus magic vulnerability)
3: Captain Marvel (oh noes, poor billy shouldn't have tried to fight the shade.)
4: Shadowcat (Should not have made it this far.)

    B

    1: Thor (Is a god.)
2: Invisible Woman (Underestimated and powerful, weakened by the earlier fights though.)
3: Hulk (Put down by the Invisible Woman and Thor in self defense.)
4: Superman (Doesn't stay out of it early on, gets ganked basically by Marvel Chars that know each other.)

    2. Shade: Has probably the best chance of taking anybody one on one, as long as they don't get the drop on him.
    3. Wonder Woman: Eh, I just don't see her beating the Big Red Cheese.
    4. Shadowcat: Yeah. yeah

    B.
    1. Superman: SUPERMAN STRONGEST THERE IS PLUS EYE LASERS
    2. Thor: Thunderbolt and lightning, very very frightning.
    3. Invisible Woman: Unlike against the above two, she has a chance of fighting:

    1. Captain Marvel: Like Supes, but even better, apparently.
    2. Shade: From the information given out by people here who've actually read about him, it seems like he's be able to get the upper hand over Diana.
    3. Wonder Woman: Marvel's stronger and more powerful, as is Shade.
    4. Shadowcat: Goes home in disgust, probably muttering about goddamned over-powered DC heroes,

    B.
    1. Thor: Equally matched against Superman, but I'm a Marvel geek so I'll hand this one to blondie.
    2. Superman: He may have hammer-envy, but the man of Steel is through.
    3. Hulk: Simply won't be given enough time to get up to his full strength here.
    4. Invisible Woman: Ridiculously powerful, but is outclassed by the titans here.

Captain Marvel: One of my favorites and One of my favorites to win this whole thing, fast enough to handle Shade as he's been sent to the Shadowlands once and isn't dumb enough to fall for it again due to the wisdom of Solomen.

The Shade: Too many powers, too many amazing and versitile powers to be ignored here, would be number one if it weren't for the sheer bad assness of Captain Marvel

Wonder Woman: Near Superman class is not Superman class, and she just can't hold it against the cats above her, she tries and tries, but I just don't see her as powerful

Shadowcat: Poor girl, one of my favorites but she is just insanely outclassed here.

    B.
Hulk: Hulk Strongest One There Is. I've seen him pound on Thor, and I imagine Thor and Hulk will team up and pound on Superman, and after the kind of getting worked up he'll garner from that he'll be able to turn around and Hulk Smash ANYTHING that gets in his way

Thor: Like Captain Marvel, but even more magical, with a Thor-Hulk teamup I see Superman finally being put out of this thing

Superman: I can't place him last, it took a lot of thinking to make sure I was okay with him at third place, but Sue will get taken out from the concussive force of these other guys fighting

Invisible Woman: Just outclassed again like Kitty, she just leaves when she sees what she's up against.

    1. Shade - Pretty much the best DC character ever. Also: No one can do shit to him.
    2. Wonder Woman - Almost as strong as Captain Marvel, and a way better fighter.
    3. Shadowcat - Almost nothing can hurt her, plus, ninja, and who's going to try and hit the girl with the tiny pet dragon?
    4. Captain Marvel - Gets instantly depowered by Shade.

    B
    1. Hulk - Strongest there is. No one can throw him into space because if they tried, he'd just latch on and start hitting them in the face really fucking hard. Superman is going to be a bit phased by this seeing as how most of the supervillains he fights don't hit like a mountain, and he still gets knocked around all the time.
    2. Superman - Fastest person in the fight, plus eye lasers pew pew pew.
    3. Thor - As strong as superman, but it slower.
    4. Invisible Woman - Shields can't take a prolonged attack from any of the other three in this match.

    1. Wonder Woman - Best fighter here, God-like smarts (literally, God-like), magic lasso = win

    2. Shade - Zuper powerful, but will still get his ass handed to him by WW.

    3. Shadowcat - stealth keeps her in the game a bit longer than Shazam.

    4. Shazam - His big flashy ass goes down quickly to either Shade or WW.

    1. Susan Richards - Thor and Supes are far too chivalrous to go full bore against a milf superheroine. Especially Supes.

    2. Thor - Has magic that gives him an edge over Supes.

    3. Supes - Would probably rather lose than beat Susan into unconciousness.

    4. Hulk - Supes and Thor take out male aggression on favorite green pinata.

1- Captain Marvel: SHAZAM, yo. Coolest warcry ever. Can take Wonder Woman and probably beat her, knows Shade better than her as far as I know, whatever. He rules.
2- Shade: Yes, he is incredibly, incredibly powerful.
3- Wonder Woman: Yes, she gets beaten by Shade or Captain Marvel.
    4- Shadowcat: Hahahahahaha no.

    B:

1- Superman: Speed, strength, mobility, versatility, yeah.
2- Thor: Not as fast as Supes, which is the only deciding factor here.
3- Susan Richards: Has the common sense to at least not try to fight the two massively powerful flying guys who can single-handedly beat everyone on the planet, pretty much.
4- Hulk: Hulk does not possess this common sense, and will get smacked the fuck down because Hulk, while incredibly badass, is stuck in an incarnation that can't even really start to bruise either Thor or Superman. Contrary to popular belief, Hulk is not strongest one there is.

    Match A:

    1) Wonder Woman: Not as strong as Capt. Marvel, but a better fighter and strategist. Has enough experience with the supernatural not to be surprised by Shade, either.
    2) Shade: His power gives him an instant pwn against Capt. Marvel. It's a little cheap, but here we are.
    3) Captain Marvel: Even if Shade doesn't take him out first, WW has good shot at taking him down.
    4) Shadowcat: I don't think anyone's even seriously considering her as an option here. Utterly, utterly outclassed.

    Match B:

    1) Thor: More of a warrior than Supes; I'm betting Thor learned more from their JLA/Avengers fight than Supes did, and he's going to use it.
    2) Invisible Woman: If Superman and Thor pound it out of each other at the start, she gets second. All there is to it.
    3) Superman: Thor just wants the win more. It would be a hell of a fight, though.
    4) Hulk: Any of the other three have the potential to take him down. It's really not his fight.

    1. Captain Marvel (Diana's a great fighter, but I think Marvel's raw power takes it. Marvel might start out on the losing end, but once he figures out he's in trouble and pulls out the stops it's game over.)
    2. Wonder Woman (Which is not to say Wonder Woman's any slouch.)
    3. Shade (Marvel's been around a long time, and presumably is aware that darkness-based powers are dangerous for him. I don't think this is the automatic rock-paper-scissors result The Great Machine vs. Machine Man was.)
    4. Shadowcat (Just not up to fighting the others here. One stray attack--from any of these people--takes her out.)

    B:

    1. Superman (I think if anyone's got the will to win advantage, it has to be Superman. His powers put him in good stead against any of the others.)
    2. Hulk (Strongest one there is? Check. Heat vision and lightning bolts aren't going to stop Hulk, someone's going to have to get close. And when they do, Hulk is going to be very, very angry. Hypothetically someone could take him out of the ring, but I think that's only Invisible Woman's style--and I don't think much for her chances.)
    3. Thor (Unbelievable power, but he's matched against a bunch of powerhouses. It's a close, close match, but I think Thor goes down.)
    4. Invisible Woman (Either ends up here or in second, depending on when Superman notices her and clobbers her despite her shields. It could go either way, but I'm going to end her up here.)

    Fight A:
Gold - The Shade: His complete control of the darkness and all the things he can do with it makes him the gold medal winner.
Silver - Captain Marvel: Diana might be resistant to magic, but I'm pretty sure a fist to the face won't be too magical, nor will a massive lightning bolt up the cooch.
Bronze - Wonder Woman: She'll give a tough fight, but I think she's on the short end of the stick this time.
Loser - Shadowcat: Bogart's explanation is in itself, pure gold.

    Fight B:
Gold - Invisible Woman: If she stays invisible and uses the force bubbles to their full potency, she should be able to get the gold.
Silver - Thor: Pretty even match in this fight, and he's going to have friends in some of the other combatants.
Bronze - Superman: Fucking overpowered DC superheroes. I wish this entire contest didn't have as many of them.

    2. Shadowcat - No offense, all defense. Stays intangible the entire match and let's the other three sort it out.
    3. The Shade - Can't touch Kitty, can't beat Captain Marvel's magic. Oh well, he got the drop on Wonder Woman.
    4. Wonder Woman - Despite her strength and skill, overmatched here. Would've been third if Kitty had been stupid enough to become tangible.

    B
    1. Hulk - Supe's tricks and Thor's lightning will slow him down, but it'll just make him angry. When they get close to throw down, Hulk smash.
    2. Superman - Versatile powers gives him the slight edge over Thor.
    3. Thor - Gives Superman a run for his money. Could've been 2nd if he'd joined forces with him instead.
    4. Invisible Woman - Love her, but her shields won't hold up to one of these guys, let alone three.

    1. Shade: He's just too versatile to take anything less than first in this match. He can depower Marvel by sending him to Hell, he can bypass WW's invulnerability by sharpening his shadow constructs (she is vulnerable to projectiles and sharp points, hence the bracelets), and Kitty is no problem at all since she's vulnerable to magic.

    2. Wonder Woman: The shoddy invulnerability costs her first place, but her experience and strength grant her the ability to take care of a phaser and a man-boy. Marvel may be a de-sexed Superman (an accomplishment in itself), but I doubt he can stand up to the power of hundreds of years of feminist rage. WW's powers may be weaker, but surely there's more to heroes than their powers.

    3. Captain Marvel: Too bad he was stuck in a match where he couldn't at least place second. Practically every other arrangement would have granted him as much. Unfortunately, brute force and an adolescent mind won't overcome Shade and Wonder Woman's cunning and experience.

    4. Kitty: Gets taken out early by her vulnerability to magic before she can do anything.

    B.

    1. Superman: The power-set and peerless determination lets him overcome everything, even the hammer man.

    2. Thor: Superman's closest competitor, he ultimately falls short of big blue because pure strength has never been enough against the DC figurehead.

    3. Invisible Woman: She's shown herself to be capable of taking out the Hulk, but the fact is that she functions best as the member of a team. I just can't see her besting two of the strongest people in comics.

    4. Hulk: Ahhhhh... suffocated by Sue, I suppose.

    Match A:
1.The shade - His abilities are so expansive i think he could take on all three at the same time, the only way he loses is if someone gets a lucky first shot. (totally possible but unlikely)
2.Wonder Woman - Could beat the crap out of marvel and even has a shot against the shade
3.Captain marvel - is pretty damn strong, not as strong as the above though
    4. Shadowcat - Seems like this is a round where all the other fighters can actually touch her

    Match B:
1.Thor - its like 50/50 between him and supes, i'm giving it to thor. Magical and whatnot
2.Superman - Could take on the hulk on full power so yeah
3.Hulk - Even the weakest ever gladiator hulk could still kick sue's ass
4.Sue - if hiding is the only way you can advance, you don't deserve to.

    Match A:
    1. Wonder Woman: Can kick Shade's ass.
    2. Shade: Control over darkness doesn't seem all that cool to me, but here, it works.
    3. Captain Marvel: Depowered by Shade.
    4. Shadowcat: No offensive abilities, just plain outclassed.

    Match B:
    1. Thor: He's like Superman, except he's a god (and not just any god, but a Norse god, which is infinitely more awesome) and he has magic hammer. How can you beat that?
    2. Invisible Woman: Survives to second place because: force fields and she's probably cool enough with Thor that he wouldn't fight her until after Hulk and Superman are eliminated.
    3. Hulk: Strongest there is, but he'll get thrown into space or some shit.
    4. Superman: Object of Thor's aggression, hammer smashed face, etc.

    Match A:
Wonder Woman: She has the muscle to take it.
Shade: He's immortal and really powerful. He'd take second.
Captain Marvel: Not going to cut it with Shade around.
Shadowcat: She can't actually do anything here, really.

    Match B:
    1. Thor: Super strong with magical lightning attacks.
    2. Superman: Everyone would probably get accidentally KO'd in the fight between Thor and Superman.
    3. Invisible Woman: She's smart enough to take down the Hulk.
    4. Hulk: His weakened form is his disadvantage.

    Match A:
1: Wonder Woman. Actively takes first place with strength skill and versatility.
2: Shade. Immortal, powerful, totally badass. Passively takes second.
3:Captain Marvel- It's gonna be very close between him an WW, but she'll come up on top.
4:Shadowcat. Finally out of her league.

    Match B:
1.Superman: Has the slight edge over Thor. Can handle the other two as well.
    2. Thor- Squeaks in just under Supes. Might have to deal with very angry Hulk as well.
    3. Invisible Woman- She has moxie, I tell ya, but even with her powers she can't stand up to these powerhouses.
    4. Hulk: The minute he becomes a great threat (so probably right away), any one or even a combo of the others will take him down, which they're able to do because they've done it before. Which is too bad, because Hulk is so awesome.

    Fight A:

    1. Wonder Woman: Consummate fighter and tactician, resistant to magical attacks and packing a whole host of offensive abilities. Marvel and the rest are going to get punked.

    2. Shade: He'll be able to depower Marvel and disorient Shadowcat.

    3. Captain Marvel: He may be physically stronger than Wonder Woman, but he can't exploit a weakness to magic on her like he can with Superman. And Shade has handled him in the past.

    4. Shadowcat: She's just totally outclassed here, and intangibility ain't gonna help all that much.

    Fight B:

    1. Superman: He's proven himself against Thor before, and there's nothing here to make me think he won't do it again. It'll be a damn awesome fight, though.

    2. Thor: It'll be a close fight with Supes, but I think that Superman has more of an edge with his abilities and skill in dealing with hugely powerful enemies.

    3. Invisible Woman: She'll put up a sly and potent fight, but she's not stopping either of the big guns. Still, she'll be able to avoid Hulk for a while.

    4. Hulk: Either Supes or Thor just tosses the dude into the Sun. Tough break.

    Fight A:

    1. Wonder Woman- If she can take Superman in Sacrifice, she can take Captain Marvel.
    2. Shade- He will depower Marvel just as Obsidian did. There is no reason that this will not happen.
    3. Captain Marvel- depowered by Shade, or beaten (barely) by WW if by some miracle Shade doesn't depower him first.
    4. Shadowcat- Outclassed. Though I'm unsure how she can be defeated if she stays intangible the whole time, she certainly can't win.

    Fight B:

    1. Superman- Versatility, plus he's taken Thor before. Sue and Hulk just don't cut it here.
    2. Thor- Close, but The Man of Steel wins this.
    3. Invisible Woman- Can be detected by Superman in a multitude of ways. Not in the same power class as Thor and Supes (though close)
    4. Hulk- Tries to take on everyone at once and gets his ass handed to him first thing. Not as powerful as Thor or Superman, but will act like he is.

    4. Shadowcat: Can't be hit by anything other than magic also she could'nt hurt anyone she was fighting against.

    1. Thor: Smashes Superman in the face with a hammer and a lightning bolt.
    2. Superman: Just barely gets beat by Thor
    3. Hulk: In his weakened state is just not strong enough to take on Supes and Thor.
    4. Invisible Woman: Once Superman finds her it's over.

    Match A:
    1. Shade - The nature of his powers give him too big of an advantage over an up-close melee fighter. As long as he can avoid letting WW get right in his face, he should take the match.

    2. Wonder Woman - Despite all her strength, training, and tactics, she still has to get close enough to hit people if she wants to win. I can't see Shade letting her get that close.

    3. Shadowcat - Manages to put a severe assbeating on a de-powered Captain Marvel. Beyond that, if she's smart she forfeits. If she's not smart, either of the other two could rape her face off in a few seconds flat.

    4. Captain Marvel - Shade de-powers him as soon as the match starts, leaving him to Shadowcat to finish off. Kind of a crappy way to go, but he just got a lousy draw in this fight.

    Match B:
    1. Thor - Not quite on par with Superman in terms of raw strength or speed, but his warrior upbringing and lightning spewing, dimesion ripping, indestructible hammer-o-death gives him the advantage, and the win.

    2. Superman - See above, pretty much. His ability to detect the Invisible Woman guarantees him the two-slot though.

    3. Invisible Woman - Can (and has, in the past) used her forcefield to cut off the Hulk's air supply, leaving him unconsious. Beyond that though, she's just flat outclassed, and I refuse to bump her to second place by default.

    4. Hulk - As much as I like the guy, brute strength just isn't enough against the other three diverse powerhouse characters in the match. "Hulk Smash!" can only take you so far.

    Match A:

    1. Wonder Woman - Too stone cold for wussy darkness.

    2. Shade - Depowers Marvel and laughs until WW shows him what's up.

    3. Shadowcat - Not huge offensively, but at least lasts longer than a depowered Marvel.

    4. Captain Marvel - Really strong and stuff...until Shade depowers him.

    Match B:

    1. Thor - Probably on equal footing with Supes, except for the fact that everyone is going after Supes first because they don't know him and he's too powerful to have running around.

    2. Hulk - It was kind of a toss up between Sue and Hulk for me, so I flipped a coin.

    3. Invisible Woman - Really strong offensively and defensively, but still not the strongest there is or a god.

    4. Superman - Unfortunately a stranger in an arena full of people who have spent a lot of time saving the world together.

    Match A
1 - Captain Marvel - Super fast, strong and very intelligent. Knows how to handle/avoid Shade's power.
2 - Shade - Still fuck powerful. And hard to hit if you aren't fast enough.
3 - Wonder Woman - Great fighter and really strong, these top 3 are all really close.
4 - Kitty - Could she even hurt anyone here? Either way someone will take her out quick.

    Match B
1 - Superman - Strength, speed, experience, heat vision, flight, complete invulnerability except against magic. Tough guy to beat.
2 - Thor - Strong but not as fast, probably more experienced but less extra powers, also not as invulnerable as Supes.
3 - Invisible Woman - Not near good enough to take out the top two but should put up a decent fight for Hulk.
4 - Hulk - Not strongest there is. No HULK SMASH only hulk smashed. Not strong enough to take out the top two or smart enough to take out Sue.

    Fight A:
    1. Wonder Woman- too fast, too strong, too skilled
    2. Shade- can remove Captain Marvel while he's distracted by Wonder Woman, but WW removes him
    3. Captain Marvel- big weakness here
    4. Shadowcat- you don't move on if you can't hurt anyone, and Shade at least can probably affect her while she's phased
    Fight B:
    1. Thor- he takes out the Hulk, then Superman
    2. Superman- takes out Invisible Woman, who weakens him more than Hulk weakens Thor, so Superman comes in second
    3. Invisible Woman- lasts slightly longer than Hulk
    4. Hulk- no chance
