Safe (and free!) Undelete Software?

I became mentally incompetent for a brief period of time and ended up deleting a lot of MP3s from a thumb drive that I hadn't had the chance to back-up anywhere yet. Does anyone know where I can get a safe and free undelete program? I've found one that works, the free trial found all the files I'm looking for, but retrieval was of course disabled in the trial version and I'd really rather not pay 20 bucks for something I'm only going to use once.

A friend also told me that undelete software is one of the more popular types of software to hide virus/scam software in, thus why I'm asking here before just downloading the first random freeware I find.

    I always find software I need by using google site search on ghacks.net. Like this.

    Now I think I'm going to go find one I like and see what sort of files are still lingering on my disk. :D
