Letting friends borrow games in the DRM age

Me and my roommate buy a ton of PC games but DRM is making it impossible for us to trade games. For example my roommate is leaving for two weeks and I want to borrow Fall Out 3 but more then likely I wont be able to install it on my computer due to DRM. Not sure what it is on Fall out three but if its anything like mass effect where you only get so many installs we are fucked..

I am just confused on the moral issues at hand. Back in the day letting a friend borrow a pc game was not a big deal but now it is one copy per computer. I could just go into his room and play Fall out three so either way the company is not going to make money off of me.

Am I the only one that finds it silly to have 2 copies of the same game in one house hold?

Couldn't this have fit in to the existing DRM thread?

That's kind of the point of DRM. Buy a console.

seriously, though, if you are roommates, why not just play the game on his PC?

Fallout 3 doesn't have any DRM other than a disc check. You can lend it to your friend. He can play it.

    Fallout 3. Fallout 3.

not Fall Out 3 or Fall out three. Fallout 3.

Also - try posting in the other DRM thread.

no, he's talking about a different game

it's the one where you get into an argument, or a "falling out" if you will, with your roommate, over whose turn it is to do the dishes.

See, the crux of the game is that you've already done the dishes the past three times, in a row.

    no u.

edit: In response to the OP, this really should go in the DRM thread we already have but to answer your question you should be able to play Fallout 3 with no problem. And since you two live together if nothing else you can just use his computer and he can use yours, etc. And if it's really that big of an issue just don't buy games with DRM, all of GOG's games are DRM-free and Sins of a Solar Empire is not only DRM-free, you can use the same cd-key for two computers to play LAN games (so I hear, I haven't tried it myself). Just some examples.
