Anyone remember back in the day how Nintendo Power was hyping the holy living hell out of DQ1? Could we be seeing that for DQ10? Is this the end of the "Wii isn't for real gamers" meme?
According to a live blog by the site Gemaga, DQ creator Yuji Horii took the stage and made the announcement. Afterward, Iwata was quoted as saying, "Thank you very much for announcing Dragon Quest X for Wii." A Reuters story later confirmed the news.

I have beat Rygar on the NES and many of you have not.
I highly doubt it, unfortunately.
The conspiracy theory back in the day when Enix bought Square was that they shifted the value of the shares around until the original Square CEO + Sony's contribution = 50%, or somesuch tripe. The math doesn't check out ("So wait, the original Square CEO guy owned... 95% of Square??") but it was a fun theory to throw around.
Still, this is great news. Wonder if it's going to be like "DQ9+", extending DQ9's online multiplayer and all that.
DQ9 is going for a weird hybrid of traditional DQ and almost PSO-like multiplayer, so... if they do that with DQ10, well... It'd be weird but I'd play it. The Wii can definitely handle DQ8's engine, so...
One thing I do wish they'd bring over (after porting it to an online Wii game), is Dragon Quest Battle Road:

In my defense, searching for "Dragon Quest Wii" on the forums got me an error (LOLZ, WII'S 2 SMALL) and "Dragon Quest" got me pages and pages of chat threads.
And even worse, "Dwii-agon Quest" is banned from these forums, so it can't be used either.
Or you could do what I did and use advanced search to only return threads and search in thread titles.
Other than searchability, I fail to see what's "worse" about that.
