ogm to wmv, avi converter

I'm making a video project for youtube, and I need to convert some ogm files I downloaded into wmv. Can anyone recommend a free solution?

    If you use firefox all you had to do was highlight the name and choose "Search Google for" from the context menu...

    But I'm not sure this is what you actually want - do you want the video to be encoded with Windows Media Video (which can be contained in an .avi file) or do you want to have a .wmv file?

    Anyway, I think virtualdub will only let you save it as an .avi, though I haven't used it that much, especially the newer versions.

    If you don't mind that it's an .avi file then just open the file, go to video->compression and choose Windows Media Video, which I assume you already installed the codecs for. Then select fast or normal recompress in the video menu.
    If you also want to have the audio changed then go to the aduio menu and select full processing mode and then choose wma as the audio codec, I suppose.

    I think youtube can also digest XviD.

    you might try Zamzar. it's a free online file converter, i.e. you upload the file to them, they do the conversion and e-mail you a link with the converted file. i haven't tried it tho so i'm not clear on the quality or any size limits.

    otherwise, look up "Switch" on download.com. it's free, it works.
