So heres a better write up: when i load up a graphic intensive game my num lock light turns off and refuses to turn back on and eventually my computer will hard lock. I can do anything but run games, keyboard is fine ram is fine HD's are fine, OS is fine and my CD roms are fine anyone got a clue why this happens?
Someone said it was my power but i dont see how it could considering its fine 99% of the time and only crashes when i start any graphic program, another note is its done this before and after i got the latest video drivers.
Are you using FreeBSD, Linux, or OS X? If it is any of the above, it's probably a problem with your X server (or whatever the equivalent is in OS X). You should take a look at your xorg.conf file and update/patch to the latest release.
Eh non USB keyboard it plugs into the 'keyboard' jack next to the mouse jack and i'm using XP pro SP2 stripped version which normally has no problems. The lock doesnt show on event viewer and even minor games like world of goo trigger the hard lock were videos/pictures do not seem to trigger it.
Does unplugging and replugging the keyboard fix it? I had a computer that would stop acknowledging the PS/2 keyboard plugged into it randomly. And/or the mouse. It could be the mobo going.
You probably shouldn't unplug and plug back in a PS/2 keyboard. Try shutting down, unplugging it, checking for loose pins or a loose jack, plugging it back in, and booting up.
There's about a 0.5% chance of anything bad happening from unplugging a PS/2 keyboard while the computer is on. The only way to not have any power being sent to the port is to unplug the computer, then unplug the power supply from the mobo, and then wait for the mobo's capacitors to drain.
They keyboard works fine and i've tried to it with a USB keyboard to with the same results, i live in hawaii and we had a major power outage so someone said that i'm not getting enough voltage or my PSU is dieing so i'm waiting until the power is confirmed 100% before testing it again.
I've switched outlets and cords, felt the heat of the card ran a virus scan and can only deduce that my computer has a machine spirit and it loathes me. I think it might just be a GPU failure or maybe a drive failure, seeing as im going to buy a completely new computer soon and use my current one for spare parts it can burn in hell.
I have switched the PSU and it still happens it is now either my video card or MB- when i switch my 7600 to my x800 tomorrow i'll update heh lost my last fucking MB to hawaiis other major power outage! DAMN YOU MOTHER NATURE I WILL NOT GO OUTSIDE!
