Star Wars Battlefront, you have spoiled me

So I've been trying to find a good third person shooter for my consoles lately (360&PS3) And all I am finding are games that simply fall flat when compared to last generations Star Wars Battlefront games. And now with the online community for those now pretty dead, I am asking is for suggestions for something similar to SWBF, without some incredibly stupid design decisions.
So far Lost Planet has come the closest to being what I'm looking for but there's so much fail in the game it makes it unplayable (lol lighting effects, and invincibility when rolling or on the ground). Is there anything out there good for the current gen, or am I going to have to stick with first person shooters?

Well there's a Lord of the Rings version of Battlefront coming out soon, called LOTR Conquest. That might be good.

You could try The Club. I played the demo for it and found it entertaining, but it highly rewards skillful play and I suck at quick aiming with a controller, so I never bought it because I knew I would suck massively at it.

You can play Fallout 3 like that, though I never do.

Does it have to be exactly like Battlefront? Gears of War was a pretty good TPS. Stranglehold wasn't bad either, if you play it on the hard difficulty. It was boring as hell on normal though, which is probably why it got so much hate. Mechassault 2, Max Payne 2, Metal Arms and Mercenaries are all BC. But like the sequel, Mercs is apparently buggy and broken on the 360.

I hope they make another Mech Assult sometime for the 360, those games were so much fun on the original X-Box.

The fact that you didn't mention CoD4 in the OP leads me to assume that you're not looking for that type of gameplay at all...?

I hear CoD WaW is actually fun too. But it's the same type of multiplayer FPS.

I can't rightly think of anything that's really like SWBF on the current gen systems. As previously mentioned, the Pandemic guys that made the Battlefront games are about to unleash LOTR: Conquest, but if you follow that link and skim the thread, you'll find my overwritten demo impressions...which aren't exactly positive. And as it relates to Battlefront, it of course has very little in the way of shooter elements, doesn't feel balanced all that well, and frankly doesn't feel as fun as Battlefront.

Mercs 2 was also mentioned, it has very similar mechanics as far as killing mans goes, but lacks the structure of Battlefront. Then there's Battlefield: Bad Company, which of course has that structure but with fps gameplay...hrmm.

The Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfare games have a little of both worlds, I think, but not a whole lot of either. I'm sure there's a demo for GRAW 2 on XBL.

I played the demo of LOTR: Conquest too, and thought it was terrible. Pandemic used to be one of my favourite devs too.

I will recommend checking out The Club too, it can be got for dirt cheap now too, so even though some people love it, and some hate it, it is worth the gamble.

EDF2017 on the 360 is worth thinking about too, but it is only single player/2 player coop.

There is a very average 3rd person mech game on the live arcade, called War World. Not played it myself, but heard OK things about it, maybe try the demo.

That's actually a great comparison - Warhawk is pretty fun but of course you would have to have a PS3.

Ah yes, Warhawk, I R dumb for forgetting that one. Much larger scale and I don't think it has a genuine class system (you'll have to find weapon spawns if you want to snipe, etc), but it's fun enough and probably will completely change for you if you take the time to learn how to dogfight.

Starwars Battlefront 2 for the OXbox is still the #2 OXbox Live game, right behind Halo 2. Of course, Halo 2 only has about 6,000 people a day according to Bungie.net, but you really don't need a million people online to get a game going.
