XBL problems - hardware problem?

Heyo, G&T!

If this is in the wrong part of the forum, feel free to move it. I felt that I'd get a better response here. :)

I got myself a problem with my 360, and I'm not sure how to solve it. A week ago I could flawlessly connect to XBL through my home network (I connect it directly into a router with a ethernet cable) and played some games of SF2HD, and had fun. I moved it into another room in the house, and played there for a couple of days before putting it back into the room it was originally. Now, I cannot log into XBL. I know it's not the cable, because I tried connected it to a computer and that worked perfectly. I've tried several cables, I've even connected it directly into the "main" network, so to speak. None of this works; when I try to connect I get an error the second I press the button. "Cannot connect to Xbox Live".

When I do the test, it shows that it's not registering the cable. So what's up here? Nothing happened to it besides me moving it. None of the settings have been edited in any way. Is it bricked? Is this something I can fix myself? I have no receipt for it so if I have to pay for this I'll be kinda bummed.

Have you tried connecting to XBL without using a router?

Yeah, I have, that's what I was trying to say in the original post. :/

If that's what you meant by 'main' network, then you definitely needed to be more clear. I presume the term network applies to any setup using routers, switches, and/or hubs in order to connect multiple objects to a single port.

If you have already tried connecting the 360 directly to the modem and straight into the internet connection, then I'd suggest taking it to a friend's place and use their connection (making appropriate changes for logging in) to make sure that it isn't just some issue either with the wiring of your house or your ISP (or both).

Since you say you've tried multiple cables, it could be that somewhere along the line, the RJ-45 port on the back of the 360 was somehow broken. You may indeed need to call Xbox support in that case. But try and make sure you eliminate your house or ISP from the equation first.

Yeah, I needed to be more clear, sorry about that. :)

Thanks for your help, I'll try your suggestion. I'm moving in a couple of days and will be able to use another ISP. If it still doesn't work, I'll have to contact Xbox support.

    Thank you!
