We just finished watching Saawariya and found the dance numbers incredibly entertaining, even if the rest of it did tend to drag on. Anyone know of any other fun Indian movies that are similar? The more extravagant dance scenes, the better.
om shanti om, definently.. a great all around movie.. the director used to be a choreographer, so the dance numbers are really great
hum dil de chuke sanam and devdas (from the director of saawariya) are also known for their extravagant dances and cinematography and are much, much better movies than saawariya
dil se.. is another must see..
dil to pagal hai and dilwale dulhania le jayenga are personal favorites of mine, though some might argue they arent as extravagant as above
on a side note dostana is a movie i saw recently which i thought was hillarious.. the songs are pretty good but the dances are about average tho..
If you can settle for a rest of the movie that actually is really good and doesn't drag on, with only one (fairly awesome) dance scene, then I highly recommend Slumdog Millionaire. It's more Hollywood than Bollywood but it's definitely there in spirit.
I'm guessing that is some kind of mockery of my suggestion, since it's so totally out there based on the OP's film preferences right? Just as much as Fight Club.
Have you even seen it? It has a soundtrack full of Bollywood music, veteran Bollywood actors, and one great dance scene as they roll the credits that is, if anything, a shoutout to its Bollywood roots.
Sorry for recommending something the OP would probably enjoy that is more than likely playing at a theater near him.

No. I just don't watch much Bollywood at all, but their version of Fight Club was so over the top is was great.
