General Rules:
0. As usual only players on can post here.
1. Write in 3rd Person, narrate what occurs in and around your character.
2. Meta chatter (rolls, actions, abilities to use, and questions to the GM and such) must be seperated and spoiler tagged.
3. Post when your turn comes, you have roughly 24 hours to answer back. If you anticipate that you will be gone for a few days you can:
>PM me some autopilot instructions ie. I'll keep attacking this guy and I'll fall back when wounded, I'll rest at an Inn somewhere, I'll follow orders from teammates etc, I'll hang around in the background.
> Have your character LOG out
so that you'll turn to a keychain and your teammates can carry you as well as freak local villagers the fuck out
4. If you've logged in, wait till the Server acknowledges your entry with a post. And post anywhere after that.

Battle Rules
Use of Invisible castle is reccommended but not required. If I suspect fudged rolls we'll turn to it mandatorily

1.Battles start as soon as one side acknowledges a conflict against another party and acts on it. Turns will occur in Beats where one side posts their intended action accompanied with Die rolls, then the other. Each player is given one Reaction every offbeat turn (generally after your enemy's action)

2. On your turn post your intended action and make one stat roll. Keep your narrative one sided, as the effects of your actions has not been determined against the conflicting party. You can boost your rolls with spirit. You can only use as much spirit as you have will. If successful, you'll get back half the spirit you spent. If you fail, all of it will go down the toilet.

IF YOU ROLL A 10. Roll the d10 again, add that to your previous 10. Should you roll another 10, keep going until you roll a non 10 number. YOU JUST MADE A CRITICAL HIT.

3. What are reactions?
Should things get super dicey and the enemy attempts things that garner immediate intervention, One can post a reaction to a target enemy on their post accompanied with a stat roll (spd being the priority here). All other rolls must then be processed as flat for the duration of that action, meaning that they register as flat stats without the aide of a d10. Though assisting skills still apply. Should the Reaction be a success, it will be applied retroactively. Reactions are labelled with a !! as the first line to your post. People can post reactions out their turn order. And reactions can be counter reacted to. With a !!!. Add one exclamation point for ever successive reaction. Keep your reaction posts seperate from your official post.

If you're interested in joining, please venture into the signup thread and post there.

His insomnia being so extreme that it lead to problems in school and at least in part contributed to his dropping out of school all together.

However later on than the usual norm, he got his degree and later went on to work as a security systems analyst. Aran spent a fair amount of his time on the net after his initial drop out of highschool; later on he worked out as night security at various locations. Until he finished his degree. The glasses were clear at first, that is until he looked at his computer screen. It started as a prompt at first was the computer being remotely hacked? but soon a small display processed on the screen- and from it darkness enveloped Del's line of sight.

    -Game Start-

said the letters in white text. Soon, Del found himself standing stationary as space traversed around him. A man with a doctor's coat, a pink dress shirt and a purple tie is found sitting across from him. His head ; a red cube.

"Oh dear, Another one" said a soft bottomless voice " it seems this chain letter scheme is reaching the mainland "
He gets up from his chair, a towering 8 feet tall. With gloved white hands, he produces a clipboard from nowhere and hands it to you.
"I'd like you to fill this out

    A questionaire.

As you glance back at him he's already back at this seat as if he hadn't stood up at all.

    Where did you come from?

Where will you hope to go ?

What will you bring with you?

What will you fight for ?

    What do you fear ?

Del glances over the clipboard before facing the seated "doctor".

"What is this? What's going on here?"

He quickly scans the room while waiting for a response, looking for features, exits, potential weapons...

The man with the cube for a head crosses his legs and cups his hands together.
"You wore the Overlays, you activated the Bypass, you're playing the game"

As Del looks around, he finds himself in the middle of space. All around and above him are stars. Below is the sombrero galaxy. Yet he stands there on a floor that he percieves otherwise as sheer space.

As he looks back, he finds a school desk before him, a pencil perched on the holder.
it may work as a blunt object, but the pencil maybe too small for that large cube man . . .

" Fill out the form if you will. If you wish to step out, you only simply have to take off your glasses." He shifts in his chair
" But if you wish to continue, I would just like to know a few things from you before we start. "

"Huh. Okaaaay..." Probably just an elaborate prank, but we can go with it for now. Del sits down at the desk and grabs the pencil. "Um. I need to know the context if I'm going to answer these. I mean, I'm from Oakland, but the rest here is a bit vague. So..."

" Hmmm, I suppose you were caught unawares as to what you were getting yourself into. So let me revise the questions - and perhaps give the scenery a change " He claps his hands, the "lights" going out in the room momentarily before lighting back on. You are now in the middle of a grassy field in the highlands. The Doctor, his chair, and the school desk still perfectly in place.

Glancing on the clipboard, it now says.
" What setting do you prefer (not guaranteed)"
" What is the one thing you will bring with you to this place "

" Should you and your comrades join arms in battle, how would you help them succeed ?"
" What would you fight for ?"
"What do you fear ? "

In the distance you hear a faint rumbling.

Over the hills he finds figures marching into view. A dozen or so people wearing helmets and donning weapons emerge at first, only to be followed up by countless more with spears, axes and swords. A regimented organization to their step

On the other side are what seems like a lurching mob of people dressed in rags. Upon closer inspection they are unhealthily covered with mortal wounds and exposed flesh. Arms stretched out in front of them.

" Yes " The doctor said "that sort of thing "

The men charge and break out into a furious run towards the center. Towards Del and the Doctor. Stunned by their sheer presence, Del finds himself unable to move. Until much later- after they pass them up as if to never notice them to begin with.

The two mobs break into each other, a flurry of violence and body parts flying around.

"The whats and why of this world is irrelevant, Mr. Rolands. " Said the red cube.
" Havent you already questioned the nonsensical nature of the world around you enough ? Things just are, and in here, it is what it became to be" His words rang with a degree of truth. The effects of which was numbingly calming.

He stood from his chair to massage his neck. Diving into that chair was a man with a knife trying to wrest a woman from biting his face off. A mace rolling before Del's feet.

Aran Lands places on the glasses... Nothing. Should he have expected something ?

He was on his way taking it off when he realized that before him he was sitting on a desk. In the middle of an empty classroom. The room was filld by amber afternoon light. At the front of the room was a properly dressed woman frantically writing a large mess of words on the chalk board.

The woman is donning A large spherical plastic cat's head as a mask.

How can she write with that thing on ?

As soon as he started writing, the noise of battle softly ceased. In a blur, Del found himself in an empty classroom with two other people: a haggard looking young fellow with a paper in front of him, and a woman dressed like a teacher with with plastic cat-head writing frantically on the chalk board. The contents of which read roughly the same as the questions that are on his paper. Its schizophrenic handwriting renders it almost unreadable.

He sat among a uniform row of desks similar to the one he's on as if he had belonged there the whole time. Looking outside the window, he could see nothing but orange clouds. No signs of wind could be felt, nor of the Doctor.

As soon as he donned the glasses and stared back at his computer screen Warban suddenly found himself sitting in this strange place. ..

    Where the Catwoman Plays

Aran looks around slightly confused before turning his attention to the woman with the cat head on. It doesn't strike him as terribly odd, maybe if this were a mainstream sim or game it would seem a bit off the beaten path. But it doesn't surprise Aran that the designer of this particular simulation may include a bizarre character just to fulfill their own bizarre needs. Or hell they may get shits and giggles from seeing how the players react.

Aran taps his fingers on the desk and looks the woman over head to toe before speaking up to her

"So is there a certain string of phrases I have to spew out in order to get you in the next phase of your character cycle?"

The woman does not turn around she continues writing wildly on the board. Her movements are otherwise precise.

" The questions ," she said, Answer them for me will you ? She knocks on the board. The board filled with nearly illegible writing. Upon closer inspection- the board only seems to be saying

    " What's your login ?"

" What type of Genre and setting do you prefer ? (No guarantees)"

"What will you bring with you ? "

" What will you fight for ? "

    " What do you fear ? "

Before Aran, there is a a blank sheet of line paper and a no. 2 pencil. The lines were orange. Sitting around him was a heavy set guy next to him and another younger person behind him.

    And now . . .

A woman appears seated in front of him without a single sign of her approach.
The cat woman still writing frantic symbols on the board.

Finishing the last of the questions, Del reviews his answers before nodding and setting down both paper and pencil.
"What setting do you prefer (not guaranteed)?"

High Fantasy with Rennaisance tech levels: running water, the printing press, etc.; temperate coastal city, population around 10 to 20 thousand (humans, if it matters)

"What is the one thing you will bring with you to this place?"

one of those disaster survival kits, with a first aid kit, flashlight, energy bars, water purification tablets, and such

"Should you and your comrades join arms in battle, how would you help them succeed?"

I would wield great power, controlling the minds of my foes and incinerating my enemies with a wave of my hand. Barring that, I'll take a bat.

    "What would you fight for?"

To protect the lives of myself, my family, and my friends; to defend our way of life from those who would directly oppress us.

    "What do you fear?"

Cutting. Not knives, not blood, but the actual act of cutting, be it cutting someone else, watching someone else be cut, or being cut myself. Also, not really afraid of them, but I'm not particularly fond of bugs.

"I think it's more of a VR game or reality show. I'm Del, by the way." He waves his hand at the haggard man in greeting.

    Looking up momentarily "Aran...hi"

    " What's your login ?
    Sandman

He off handedly remarks to himself "So cliche at this point..but what the hell ..."
Aran returns to his sheet and quickly answers the rest of the questions
" What type of Genre and setting do you prefer ? (No guarantees)"
    Steampunk

"What will you bring with you ? "
If we are limited to real world items.... Three backpacks full of various brands and types of Soups.. Nightvision goggles, a nice black Italian suit, a pistol with a silencer and ammo, another suit...but brown, a creepy halloween mask (surprise me), combat boots, leather gloves, and hmm I guess a crowbar.

" What will you fight for ? "
"The well being of those I feel that deserve it."

    " What do you fear ? "
Being a causer of pain and being unaware of it.

Aran leans back in his chair.

The catwoman finally stopped writing, and went to take a seat at the teacher's desk. She pulls out one of the drawers, taxingly at first and then manages to stretch it open and produces an old DS. After turning it on a faint melody of the Tetris theme song could be heard echoing around the vacant room.

From there, she remains stationary, her thumbs moving at a frantic pace as she held the screen 2 centimeters from her nose.

Dell felt it too. And at the very moment that she opened the windows he saw a torrent of swirling entities fill the room with a vivid presence. His ears brushed against these etherial winglike beings as they passed, his hair hummed back at their presence.
