Router

So, I have a pretty basic wireless network at home; a D-Link DI-524 Wireless router with a Mac plugged into it via lan cable and 2 computers running off the wireless. I was recently trying to access it via an internet browser by entering my IP to check that the Firewall has the Blizzard downloader ports open and after collecting the IP adresses (ipconfig for the PC and going into connection setting on the Mac) and entering them into the browser window... I time out.

I realise that this is just going to be some dumb problem that only idiots have, but I've spent a good half hour trying to access the settings, so if you could just humor me and help me out, that'd be great.

(Happy to provide any information I've left out, of course)

The IP address of the routers are usually the same.
    D-Link is 192.168.0.1.

    More info here.

Yep, what he said. Entering the IPs of the computers is going to make you try to connect to those computers, not the router. You want to take the IP address of any computer and change the last number to a '1', that's the likely router address. So if one of the machine's addresses is 192.168.0.100, then the router is going to be 192.168.0.1

I'm going ahead and assume this is for the WOW updater.

Yeah, tell us what your IP inside the router is. That way we can determine which IP you need to connect to.

When you're looking IPConfig, the GATEWAY address is your router.

192.168.0.1 just results in me getting an unable to connect message in both Safari on the Mac and Firefox on the PC.

Pinging 192.168.0.1 results in a return with a <1ms ping, making me think that it is in fact pinging the router.

Well, this might be an obvious question, but have you or anyone else changed the IP of the router, or does anyone else connect to the router that could of without you knowing? Because its possible that it might have had to have been changed depending on what type of internet you use. (I think any kind other than dial-up requires some type of box, such as a DSL modem or something.)
Since I think most things like that also have a default IP of 192.168.0.1, though I think its 192.168.1.1 but I could be wrong.

What does the screen say : 401 Unauthorized? 404 Not Found?

To find the IP of your router is easy.
    -click Start.
    -go to Run
    - type in "CMD"
-at the dos prompt put in "ipconfig"
-defult gateway - that is you routers ip.

Get the error message and the IP, and we can walk you through this.
