Okay PAers... I needs some help.

Last month I changed the date of my automatic withdrawl for my student loans. Well, I thought I did. Come January 2nd, bam... money withdrawn 15 days before the date I specified. Great. Now I have no money to pay my freaking rent.

I call the DoE and they say they'll do a charge back, but due to the holidays, they have no clue how long it will take. Now, my rent is 8 days late, and I have a notice that they will start eviction proceedings on Monday or some such. I have no idea how long that takes, but I get paid next Friday, so, my question I guess it this...

what the hell do I do?

Did you explain the situation to your landlord? I don't see why he would make such a big deal out of this if you guarantee him that you'll have the money in a week . Especially if you usually always pay rent on time.

This is only my second month, and it's a huge fluke. Like, there was no reason for this to happen. I called and talked to someone in the office, I guess I just need to go in a speak to the manager.

It's unlikely you'l lsee the money from DoE on time. Just consider it paid.

Can they really try to evict you for 8 days late? Check your lease, and see what the eviction/payment section says. Depends on your State/Country/Planet, but it's unlikely you'll be out on the street for being 14 days late. A fee would be jerky but reasonable.

Can you borrow all/half from anyone?

    What holidays? it's January 8th!

Anyways, try to talk to you land lord / apartment complex manager and tell them what happened. They are basically customer service people and want to make you happy so that you don't cause problems for them. Offer to give them any extra money you may have towards rent. Let them know what happened, because otherwise you just look like a regular deadbeat. You should probably talk to them before getting an eviction notice in the future.

They definitely won't be able to evict you. What they can do is provide you notice of beginning the eviction process - depending on the lease, they could do that if the rent is even one day late.

Pay the rent as soon as you can, and do your best not to have it be an issue in the future. They won't be able to evict you for just this, though, assuming you pay before 30 days. What happens after that will depend on the laws in your state.

Thanks all... I've pretty much written off the DoE, so I'll just pay them next Friday. Thanks for your responses, fast and awesome, in typical H/A fashion :)

I'll also talk to the property manager today.
