So I have a laptop that I got for my birthday, in October. Its worked swell up until now. The only problem I have with it is where it will boot up normally, get to the log in screen, but after I click my username to enter, will have a black screen. I'll still have my cursor, which I can move around, and sometimes my quickwrite thing up in the left hand corner, but it sticks in that pre-load phase before displaying the actual screen. Now this doesn't happen all the time, and I usually just CAD and re log in until it gets it right.
Someone please correct me, but in my experience the only luck I've had with that is to nuke it. That seems to be caused by an incomplete registry. Did you at any point shut it down during some updates? For some reason that borks Vista without fail.
