iPod locking up

Hey guys

I keep having this problem with my ipod and it's insanely annoying. Almost every time I plug it in to my computer to sync it when I get new music, it locks up. Then I have to wait until the battery runs down, then charge it up and try again. Have any of you ever had this problem?

Oh, both my ipod and itunes are at the most current version available, and the ipod itself is only about 6 months old. I'm running windows xp pro.

When it does this, have you tried unplugging it from the computer and then restarting the ipod? You do this by using the little switch on top to lock then unlock, then hold either select and play or select and menu. I don't remember which of the two it is, but its only about 5 seconds or so either way.

I have mine lock up sometimes when I connect it and doing this seems to help it out.

well what happens is the screen backlight comes on and it just freezes. the clickwheel becomes completely unresponsive. I can't turn it off at all, it just sits with the screen on until it dies.

Have you tried resetting it, like Kurn mentioned? My nano freezes all the time, and simply holding menu and select for a few seconds resets it.
