haha jay kay
Windows 7 is up for free beta download!
You can get either the 32-bit or the 64-bit from this site.

What's new?
Not that much, to be honest... they've improved the taskbar, though, that's one big step.

So, anyway, feel free to try it, everyone. It won't hurt anybody this time.

    oh hey

the XKCD guy is being a dickhole again.

    Surprise surprise.

I've been running Vista home for a bit over a year now. No problems.

If you're bitching it is because you're a bitch. EOT

    Oh I've read it.

"contains strong language which may be unsuitable for minors

contains total bullshit which may be unsuitable for those with passable reasoning capabilities and a sense of taste."

I used to love his stuff but the last week or so has shown him to be a total dickhole.

edit: damn it FireFox, "dickhole" is totally a word and you'll recognize it as such from now on.

The whole thing is just "lol vista" but the shit works fine. If it didn't have the security features everyone bitches about it would be a lot worse.

    I like vista a lot

the only thing I don't like is how you need to click continue for the dumb security permissions every time, even if you're doing things from an administrator account

Did you see my first post? That is essentially the vista experience every time you try to open something online. Except for the fact that it asks you that three times in a row.

Whenever I'm looking up porn and the website tries to download some bullshit tracker cookie I get a chance to say "no. eat a dick 'adultadspammer.com'"

most likely with a form of linux on there

if I end up too lazy to learn a new OS then it'll be XP yet again. my life is static and unchanging

New feature: Windows 7 doesn't allow any pesky "videogame" malware to enter your computer. Upon installation, it will disable your cd drive and cancel all current and future downloads, while uninstalling steam

I'm tempted to try the 64 bit version simply because my system only has the 32 bit version of vista, so it only recognizes 3 gigs of my 4 gigs of ram

I'm running the 64 bit version right now.

Worked flawlessly on my laptop.. my desktop needed a little encouragement in the driver department.

DO NOT INSTALL if you only have a Creative Labs audio card. No driver support yet. Luckily my desktop had an onboard backup.

The entire start menu/taskbar/systray has seen big improvements, as well as other windows management features.

The "Libraries" al a My Music, My Pictures, etc, have been the recipient of a major upgrade as well.

It's surprisingly stable and seems to perform well.

It's my understanding that 7 is based on Vista. It will probably be like Windows 98->ME->XP, but with XP->Vista->7.
