Good episode...but the new theme sucks.

Also, the direction seemed different this episode, was it a new director?

But, but - that's the full version of the song! I love it.

And last night's episode was directed by the great Tim Mattheson, of Animal House fame. I think he's done a few before.

Tonight's episode made me giggle. I was kind of worried after the first couple of episodes this season (by which I mean over last summer) weren't that funny. I am more relieved now.

Man, the last two weeks have been priceless. I've never laughed so hard at an episode as last week's. Also two weeks ago, there was a sly reference to Shawn going home and watching The Mentalist.

Awesome show! Definitely my new favorite TV show. Sorry Supernatural, you're a close second, now.

Yeah, they're definitely giving a shout out to The Mentalist. On his comments for the iTunes 10 episode selection thing they had for some shows, Franks said something like "Yeah, don't see that plot point on The Mentalist".

Of course, it's really probably in good fun. Like the reference they made to Numbers in an earlier season. They call it out jokingly, but on the commentaries they mention being fans, and how it was mostly a shout out to a show they enjoyed.

Shawn and Gus are consistently entertaining.

    I still hate it.

Was this a reference to a film I haven't seen? I'm not big on the horror genre (I'm pretty unflappable) and I feel like I was missing out on a lot of the jokes. It did seem to be, in general, less lighthearted.

Speaking of which... it sounds like the season finale won't be, either. And uhh... season finale already? I mean, come on!

I agree last week's would have been a much better finale, though I guess then it wouldn't have aired on Friday the 13th.

Though I did like Liam McPoyle (no idea who the actual actor is, though I saw him on some episode of house as well recently [he was Mary tonight])

I thought this episode was pretty good. It was a decent change of pace from the typical episode.

I think it would have made a much better arc. Give it a couple episodes of cat and mouse. Each one will have him barely get the person while she's still alive, meanwhile each episode Shawn has more and more trouble keeping cool as the stress gets to him.

It was an interesting change of pace, but I hope we don't get another episode like this unless someone comes up with a better idea for a serial killer than a Riddler knock-off.
