Google Chrome Error- SOLVED!

I did a search before posting this but nothing came back.

Anyways, I just installed chrome thinking that it'd help my computer run a bit faster, as firefox seems to be sucking the life out if it. However, every time I open up chrome it says there is an application error that reads as such:

The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000005). Click on OK to terminate the application.

And it does this for every web page I bring up.

How do I fix it?

Found a solution. Thanks for helping!

I don't know anything about Chrome, but what version of Firefox are you using? I'm using the latest version on two machines and have had zero trouble, so I'd be curious about that problem.

Firefox 3.0.5. It's just sluggish sometimes. Actually my entire computer is sluggish, so I'm trying to take stuff off and replace it with lighter stuff. I've basically moved all my music, pictures and other programs I could move onto my external hard drive. So I figured next would be to move to a new browser to help.

Have you defragged the hard drive after you moved all that data off?

I defragged and did a disk clean...this is going to sound odd but what exactly is formatting?

Oh, Probably over the summer, I believe. I did it on a whim one day, and I HAD downloaded google chrome when it came out, but then I took it off my hard drive. Now it's not working when it had worked before.

Well, I thought it was Symantec Endpoint Protection that was keeping Chrome from working, but it wasn't. Any other suggestions there might be?
