Can you reccomend some good software to help me make a Podcast?

This is my first time posting in this sub-forum, so please go easy on me. If this is the wrong place for this, I apologize.

Given the recent loss of all the 1UP network's various podcasts, it seemed like the ideal time for my game 'site to try its hand at doing our own Podcast. To kinda' fill the void, you know? However, having no experience in this, we weren't quite sure where to start. However, in the past I've always found P-A posters to be extremely helpful (not kissing up here, I'm serious), so I thought I'd ask your advice on this.

Mainly what I'm looking for is a program that'll let multiple people talk online and record the conversation as a WAV or MP3. I hear Skype used to do this but doesn't any more - is there anything else I can use that does this? Preferably something that's user-friendly and not too costly.

Additionally, any recommendations for a good free sound-editing software would be much-appreciated.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Free sound-editing software: Look no further than Audacity. It's probably not as good as, say, Sound Forge... but then again, maybe it is. I can't tell a lot of difference between them for anything I've ever needed to use them for.

As for the other thing, I'm not sure. Just dicking around one Wikipedia (I've had a slight interest in this type of shit myself... only trouble is I don't have anything worth podcasting about, haha) brings up a couple things:

    - Gizmo
    - SightSpeed

I'm not sure how free those are, or what catches there are, etc. Regardless, you can still use Skype as long as at least one person's also running Audacity (you can record everything you hear real-time if you record from the stereo mix).

Also, a list of voice conferencing type dealies:

    VOIP Software

    Hope that helps a bit.
