The Guiding Principles and New Rules document is now in effect.
A friend of mine has lost his sight due to an operation for a tumor, then a cyst in his brain, near his optic nerve. I am trying to find a copy of the 3.5 players handbook for him to have for reference in braille as he still has all his mental faculties and wants to play, but is unable to use his existing collection anymore. Help?
I do not know if this exists, but perhaps it is possible to use d20srd.org with a text-to-speech program? I'm also pretty sure most of the buyable pdf's are OCR , which means a text to speech will accept them too.
Unless he gets books custom printed, he's out of luck on the printed side. However, he could check out the d20 SRD site and use that with a screen reader or something

It looks like there are currently no plans for a braille edition, but several options using pdf files and electronic reading devices/software for blind people are mentioned.
So there are several ways to make the books accessible, maybe you should ask in the official forum thread I joined, since it is being discussed there right now and the GM seems very eager to help find a solution.
The RPGA forums are mentioned in the thread, since they have several blind players, who might have additional info.
I dont know how hes doing at home with Text to speech stuff, and he has played in the past, but I really wanted to get him a hard copy. I guess I will look into a custom job. Thank you so much for the info guys! Ill send this info his way till I can get the hard copy.

It's a shame, I think they should print a braille edition of the game.
This is a hobby were blind people are not at a disadvantage and can play without having to rely on any "gadgets" and they are publishing the biggest PnP RPG around, wouldn't hurt them to put in a bit of effort.
While I was googling around trying to find info for the OP I ran into braille dice but only D6. I figure there would be whole sets. This really should be made and hope someone does it.
