Steamers

I hate ironing my work clothes with all my heart. Taking them to the laundry is kinda expensive, so I thought I might invest in a steamer. Do those things really work? I mean, do they really remove the wrinkles?

I've heard good things about the Tobi Steamer, but I was wondering if any of you guys had used this or any other steamer before. Perhaps someone could recommend an alternative to steaming and ironing? A wife, perhaps?

A steamer isn't going to really work on a dress shirt. It's most useful for stuff that you don't necessarily want to press flat, like a suit jacket or a woman's dress. It's also good for freshening up sweaters or trousers between trips to the cleaners. For dress shirts, however, you're stuck with an iron. A steamer will get most wrinkles out, but it definitely won't give you a "crisp" looking shirt (and the same goes for cotton chinos).

If you want your suits to keep looking good without lots of trips to the cleaners, though, a steamer is great. They'll end up lasting longer too.

I came into this thread expecting to give advice on the giving and/or receiving of Cleveland steamers :_(

anyway to say in topic, when I used to buy all the required textbooks for my university (where you only actually use like, 5% of them) I'd stack the extra books on top of my dress clothes to keep them from wrinkling . I still had to iron them in the first place but I could get quite a few extra wears out of them before I had to iron them again.
