A friend of my wife absolutely hates Obama, so much so that she felt the need to text my wife asking how the closing of Guantanamo is supposed to keep the country safe. Of course she had no idea that it's just the detention camp that would be closed. But why should she let actual information keep her from an ignorant hate of a man she probably thinks is a secret Muslim.
Sometimes, if I am running late to work, I can only catch the tail end of Morning Report and the Writer's Almanac. This sucks, because after that Alabama public radio switches to "8 Hour Classical music power hour(s)" and that is super boring. In these dire situations, I go to my standby, which is the American Family something something station. I figure it's good to hear what the other side's rhetoric is, and plus it's usually pretty amusing.
Today they were analyzing Obama's term so far, and as it runs out he is doing a very bad job!
- He is closing Guantanamo and letting of the terrorists run free
- He is letting all of our tax dollars go towards foreign abortions
- He is forwarding the homosexual agenda by getting rid of the Defense of Marriage law (I had never heard of this)
- Stimulus is a horrible idea
But what takes the cake on today's program was a hispanic caller who said "I think this administration will be the ultimate test for blacks, because now they will have to choose between their religion and their race."
To which the host replied "well I wouldn't call this the ultimate test, because they have been failing that test ever since Johnson, and certainly since Clinton who was the first "black" president anyway"
Also they said that Obama would crack under the pressure, that "We don't even know who this guy is", and that he has never had this kind of authority before.
Yes, radio host, I am well aware that Obama has never been the president of this country until now.
Most of that is pretty retarded but his idea of stimulus is shaping up to be very questionable.
More of it should go towards infrastructure and not tax cuts.
His "tax cuts" are more like rebates to make majority of the country's voters no longer pay federal income tax. They're nothing more than bribes for party power as far as I am concerned.
WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Fourteen states will be able to mandate greater auto fuel efficiency than the federal government requires under a plan that President Obama will announce on Monday, a senior administration official said.
Obama will do so by directing the Environmental Protection Agency to grant a waiver for the states to allow them to set their own standards for emissions, the official said.
The waiver was denied under former President George W. Bush.
Automakers agreed with Bush and vehemently opposed the waivers, saying creating another set of rules regarding pollution standards for some states would be confusing and unenforceable.
Besides the EPA waivers, Obama also will call for automakers to increase their fuel efficiency standards nationwide, the official said.
The president also will direct the federal government to make its buildings more energy efficient and to find new ways for federal agencies to save energy.

That's cool. Like I said, instead of doing that they should spend more in infrastructure.
There have certainly been some good things, but they are immediately outweighed by the bad things which they shouldn't have let happen in the first place.
So what is happening with Gitmo? He isn't really closing it, is he?
yes he is. He is having a committee of lawyers examine each case, find out who is in there with no cause, and who is actually a prisoner of war, and then having either the same group or someone else find a place to hold onto the people who they can actually try.
His initial plan is to have this done (getting the prisoners out and into different locations), by the end of the year.

Geez, there are so many anti-pollutant and emissions laws, they're just so confusing! It's not like analysts and lawyers and engineers are paid top dollar to know what the laws mean and how to work under them or anything. It's too confusing, let's just not do this.
I knew as soon as they first started talking about the first bailout that most of that money was going to just get pocketed by folks that were going to waste it anyways

The naval base there stays open though right? It's just the prison that gets closed as far as I understand.

Would you mind outlining some of these good things?

My mom doesn't like Obama. I wouldn't label it as hate, but I think it's just the fact she's racist that makes her act like a deranged loon everytime see sees Obama on tv.
My dad is fine with him. He's a pretty staunch Repbulican, but he didn't think McCain was up to the task and he wants to see a complete party overhaul, so I believe he ended up voting for Obama. He wouldn't tell me who he voted for, but I've got my inclinations.

No matter who it is, he should silence them and break off into a dance contest doing the Soulja Boy. Then drop the mic in front of them and roll out.

yeah I really have no idea how to fix the economy and it seems like the last time we gave out billions of dollars nothing happened!
Oh things have happened just none of it has actually been good.
