I Haven't eaten breakfast in probably a decade, and I now don't really have the time to eat until maybe 6 pm, which leaves me starving for a large part of the day.
I'm looking for breakfast ideas that don't involve milk or eggs and can be had in a matter of minutes. Ideas?
I'd love to be the one disappoint you when I don't fall down
Oatmeal or any sort of thick soup come quickly to mind. Cereals, of course. Plenty of healthy options out there in terms of cereal, not just lucky charms and the like. Not sure why you're avoiding milk but rice or soy milks are alternatives..
Granola bars/breakfast bars work quickly, although they're not much food. Pop tarts can work too - I usually eat them cold (which also saves the few minutes of toasting/burning). Otherwise, not the healthiest of choices, but doughnuts can be a quick and mobile breakfast (partially depending on the type).
The healthy alternative is to simply break out some fruit for breakfast. Unfortunately, there are two potential downsides to the healthy option: juice and acid. Your hand are more likely to get sticky or dirty if you eat an orange or apple or something in your hand (plus if you're on the way to work you'll need to find somewhere to throw it out en route). And if you have acid reflux problems or an easily upset stomach a citrus alone for breakfast probably won't work too well.
I find I can also finish off two packets of instant oatmeal within about 5 minutes (including prep time), but I might just eat incredibly fast or prepare it strangely. I just pour the packets in a bowl, add water until it looks right and then microwave (none of that 'heating water and pouring it' crap).
Even cereal only takes a few minutes, but I'm guessing the absence of milk isn't due to the preparation time.

Oatmeal with like a spoon full of almost butter, some blue berries and half a bananna. 3-5 minutes from fridge to stomach.
Cook the oatmeal with a little water in a tupperware bowl in the microwave for about 3 minutes, or less depending on how much you got. Mix in the almond butter when it's hot then add the fruit.
Yeah I guess I should have specified that milk just pisses me off (haha get it >_>)
I'm not a big fan of oatmeal, but I'm liking the fruit and granola. Maybe a few handfuls of cereal?
I think my biggest problem will just be volume - I can down a couple of bananas and some cereal but that's not exactly filling.
Any other creative ideas are still welcome
Also I like your style Gecko, that sounds about right =p

No one likes oatmeal, that's why you put stuff in it. Almond/peanut butter or cinnamon are my favorite. Just don't buy that packaged garbage with all the sugar in or use minute oatmeal, it tastes worse and has less nutrients.
yeah, you can go wild with oatmeal. my brother takes strawberries. I even do vanilla and cherries when they're in season and like $1 for 5lbs. Alternatively you can do something like raisin bread with some almond/peanut butter on with fruit on top. It's good because the fruit won't fall off.
Bake some bread pudding with apples, raisins, other fruits, then reheat a portion each morning. Of course, it includes eggs, and milk, but not in any recognizable form. If you can get over the egg thing, another similar option would be a breakfast casserole, which is basically a giant pan of scrambled eggs with meat, cheese, and veggies that you can eat off all week.
You could do a lot of things with toasted whole grain bagels. Cream cheese, ham and cheese, chicken/turkey/tuna salad, humus + veggies, smoked fish, peanut butter, jam, all sorts of options.
I actually love plain Quaker Oatmeal. I can't stand the flavoured, instant stuff and only put in cinnamon when I'm making it for others (who need sweetness apparently). I also love yogurt and make smoothies with it too by adding fresh fruit and a little ice. I love fresh fruit salad, and can eat pineapple for days. Thomas's makes some really good multigrain bagels with fruit, my favourite is the blueberry and orange one but I know they do cranberry as well. You can make pancakes and store them in the fridge and heat them up in the toaster in the morning as well.
Brown sugar and maple syrup is what I use to make oatmeal delicious. I have wonderful things to say about tea, toasted bagels, cream cheese and strawberry jam.
I never used to eat breakfast, but now I do and it's made a big difference, so I definitely endorse the eating of breakkie.
I like to get as much sleep as possible, so I do breakfast on the quick as well. What I usually have:
- Bowl of Honey Nut Cheerios (w/ milk, but i notice you say you don't like milk)
- Quaker Oatmeal to go bars (overly processed, but still not bad)
- Nutrigrain bars (see comment above)
- Bagel with butter/peanut butter/cinnamon butter/maple butter (there's a farmer's market near my place that sells cinnamon and maple butter.. SO GOOD)
Any kind of bagel. They're loaded with cholesterol as well.
OP is a guy who hasn't eaten breakfast in years and apparently doesn't plan on eating lunch either. Handfuls of M&Ms would be more healthy than the current situation.
And these bagels have no cholesterol, 290 calories, 10g protein, 57g carbs. Not exactly world's worst breakfast option.
Bagel with some non-fat cottage cheese and some blueberries on top, hellz yea.
Or if you're trying to lose weight... I assume you're eating a pretty big dinner after not eating all day. Cut it in half, put it in the fridge before you start eating, if it's in front of you and you're anything like me you will just eat the whole thing. That saved half will make your breakfast.

If I'm in a hurry: multi-grain English muffin topped with all natural jam (I love Trader Joes) then eat a banana. Typically take a granola bar pack with me as well.
I take a zip loc bag filled with cereal to work and snack on it there in the AM. Cereal w/o milk isn't much different than, well, any other wheat-based snack, only it's typically sweet (compared to salty, like triscuits).
My wife does the same thing because she doesn't like milk. I re-use the zip loc bags, and she just uses a small rubbermaid container.
Some cereals taste a lot better than others when you don't add milk, usually the ones that aren't fructose-blasted. Like Life cereal.
No bagles? then how about english muffins with some jam or honey.
Yogurt and fruit
Oatmeal. Not the instant stuff. Buy the giant buckets of rolled oats. Place in bowl. Add salt and water. Microwave until done to your liking. Top with pure Canadian maple syrup.
Eggs.... They are good when prepared right. Scrambled especially. Mmm. Also they cook ridiculously fast. you can crack an egg in a hot pan and stir it around and its done in 2 minutes tops. Top with some garlic salt and salsa or my favorite, ketchup.

I gave up cereal with milk years ago, but I still love cereal and eat it dry for breakfast or a late night snack. Handfuls of cereal and couple bananas not filling....I hear you a bit there, but also think of how many calories that is. Dry cereal is also very good and easy to measure if you are watching your calorie intake. Most mornings I just pour some in a baggie and bring it to work, but occasionally I'll measure it out with a 1 cup scoop. It comes to way less than handfuls worth, but still claims to be a decent calorie amount.
It isn't that hearty breakfast we all want to down all the time with eggs/bacon/pancakes/hash browns, but a little cereal will suppress your appetite till at least lunch time.
I usually go with something easy like frosted mini-wheats. They go great with that morning cup of coffee and are bite size and relatively not messy. Cheerios on the other hand just get everywhere.
Eggs.... They are good when prepared right. Scrambled especially. Mmm. Also they cook ridiculously fast. you can crack an egg in a hot pan and stir it around and its done in 2 minutes tops. Top with some garlic salt and salsa or my favorite, ketchup.
Yeah, scrambled eggs are ridiculously easy to make and great on toast. Best way is mix them up with some milk in a bowl, put a small amount of butter in a pan till its just finished melting then add egg and done. Make sure to always move the egg in the pan though, or you'll get an omlette/eggy pan.
How about scrambled tofu? get soft tofu in a skillet, cut it into small pieces with whatever youre stirring it with. Toss in some spices and precut up vegetables. Done in like 3-4 minutes.
I eat this instead of eggs because i don't care for the taste of egg yolk. Also, someone said grocery store eggs are not fertilized. This is true, but it is possible that you will get a mistakenly fertilized one. I was preparing some scrambled eggs one time and bam, a little baby chicken corpse fell into the skillet. Smelled horibble, was horrible, would not want to see this again.

Yeah, omlette's made with milk are so fluffy its insane.
Beat the ever living crap out like 2 eggs with a splash of milk, and man... them eggs turn out like fluffy pancakes.
Fold some cheese and onions and ham and peppers and you have a tasty meal in 5 minutes.

Personally, I go with a bowl of oatmeal and some cinnamon sprinkled over it. I never liked it before, but I look forward to it now. It's good!
Another breakfast I like that's easy (not too healthy but better than nothing) is a sliced bagel with a slice of ham and cheese, microwaved to get it melty. Very tasty, but I wouldn't eat it all too often.
bagel cut/spread with whatever you want on it, the night before, alongside a banana - and hey, maybe even a carnation instant-start if you feel like you need to get some more calories. they come in 'juicebox' format so you don't have to bother with milk. also, if you're missing breakfast this often, i hope you're taking a multivitamin

Cliff Bars are good for on-the-go.
wtf?
Does Almost Butter = Peanut Butter? Or is some soy concoction?

May the wombat of happiness snuffle through your underbrush.
Get a bowl of Miniwheats, and a nice hot cup of tea. Black tea is best, maybe Earl Grey. Dip a spoon into the tea, and fill it. Then set a Miniwheat in the tea on the spoon, let it sit for a few seconds to soak up some liquid and soften a bit, then pop the whole thing in your mouth.
Delicious. Warm and sweet and caffeinated and crunchy-soft and filling and wonderful.
Also, while this one does use milk, it's only for softening, and you could probably swap in hot chocolate to superb effect: spread two large Weetabix biscuits with peanut butter, place them in a wide, shallow bowl, then pour the liquid of your choice over them. To eat, just use a spoon to carve out wheaty, peanut-buttery, chocolately bites.
most mornings I eat a mini bagel with my coffee, then snack on a granola bar at work (nature valley's sweet n salty almond ones are especially delicious)
I used to do toast with peanut butter, which if I remember right is rather healthy in the end (though high caloric value from the pb), and starting off with a protein in the morning does ya good
Also just about the smoothies, you can really put whatever you want in them. The only things that should be constant are liquid and ice. Any fruit and veg combination tend to taste really great, so just throw in whatever you have.

Oatmeal is an excellent idea. It will grow on you if you make it a staple of your morning routine.
How crazy can you get with oatmeal? Can I chop up some strawberries or blueberries or something?
I can probably make some PB/banana toast too.
Edit: I don't like eggs mainly for the taste, and the prospect of eating babies isn't very appealing.
Grocery store eggs are unfertilized... so no baby eating. Many vegetarians eat eggs.
You could do a lot of things with toasted whole grain bagels. Cream cheese, ham and cheese, chicken/turkey/tuna salad, humus + veggies, smoked fish, peanut butter, jam, all sorts of options.
bagels are awesome, and you can eat them plain if you choose
other options include granola or various fruits
EDIT: xa52 and TychoCelchuuuuuuuu beat me to it.
But, yeah. Bagels.

Or simply throw some fruit, liquid and ice into a blender and make yourself a smoothie. Yoghurt and oats can be blended in with it too.

Bagels are not good for you. Especially if you eat them every day. They have terrible nutritional value.
...Wheat Bagels maybe?
Just make sure you eat them with healthy sides.
Plain bagels is just carbs, isn't it?
You could add some cold cuts in there, dairy, maybe some lox.

This.
A few strawberries, a banana, some orange juice, a big spoonful of yoghurt, and a dollop of honey. A couple of ice cubes. A blender.
You're off to the races. It's delicious and takes about two minutes to make, and that's if you haven't washed the strawberries off beforehand.
I just buy bags of frozen forest fruits, not as good as fresh but still really nice and lots of different flavours. Keeps for longer too.

Thanks for the great suggestions guys.
