Liberal Kool Aid?

I've been looking around on conservative message boards and I often run into this term. I'm not quite sure what exactly it's supposed to mean. The only thing that comes to mind is the Heaven's Gate cult, but given the spirituality of the right... somehow I doubt that's it.

And because of that incident, "drinking the kool-aid" means someone unquestionably accepted something presumably obviously harmful or terrible.

To follow up on that, the implication is that we're following a charismatic leader while supposedly having no idea what his real plans are or any introspection as to what those plans might be.

    Which is ludicrous and stupid.

There is liberal Kool aid, conservative kool aid, republican/democrat kool aid, and with the retirement of Bush-Aid they are introducing Obama-Aid. Now no matter what BS you believe there is a flavor for you.

To lift a line from Katt Williams, the ingredients are basically water, sugar, and red.

Is kool aid the stuff where a large, living jug bursts through the wall?

Or purple. Or green. Combined, they form a concoction that is alternately called "drank".

Anyway, back on topic, the whole "drink the kool-aid" bit is really just a cute way of dismissing someone as incapable of thinking for themselves, thereby rendering anything they might say in an argument irrelevant because clearly they're just repeating what they've been told to believe. Most people who will go on about "liberal kool-aid" will do so without any hint of irony, which ought to tell you everything you need to know about their ability to think for themselves.

Why yes it does! You may know it as... Welfare-Aid. It is pretty much just food coloring with instructions to add water. Unfortunately it is not selling well due to offering a free job with every purchase.

But really its a pointless term since everyone belonging to a political idealology will agree with what it says.

The incident was when the phrase entered our common lexicon here in the U.S.

It should be noted that not everyone who uses it is directly refering to the event, since it has become a common saying.

Vegemite is sickening and wrong, as it is made from horrible stuff. Marmite however, now theres a spread with what it takes to succeed. Made from finest yeast extract, its taste shines brighter than even a million scoops of Vegemite.
