I have an ebook that is 146 pages that I'd like to print out as a regular book (so it's roughly 36 separate sheets), that is, double sided and two to a side (so 4 pages per sheet). I've been experimenting with the printer at my university but I really don't want to waste anymore print credits trying to figure it out. Is there any sort of formatting it properly from the print setup menu itself or do I have to resort to some sort of downloadable pdf -> doc converter?
the printer I'm using is Lexmark T644 XL if that is any help

thanks in advance.
You might need to dig through the print setup menu to see if you can find the duplex option. That's assuming that the duplex unit is installed in the printer (it's an accessory).

Assuming you can print double sided on the printer and that you're using Acrobat, it should just be a matter of selecting "Print 2 pages per sheet" in the print window (or depending on the version of Acrobat, under page scaling "Print Multiple Pages" and select 2).
At least in newer versions of Acrobat (I'm using 8) there's also a Booklet Printing option on the print window that will print them in an appropriate order so that you can just fold the resulting pile of papers down the middle and read it like a book.
For more complicated booklet printing (for example printing multiple groups of pages to be folded into booklets separately), you'll most likely need to manually rearrange the order of the PDF pages so that you can get the appropriate order on printing.
