Should I buy Rock Band?

I am an Aussie, and as some of you may know, we have been royally shafted with the whole Rock Band/Rock Band 2 thing. Seeing as how we have Rock Band 1 down here finally I'm thinking of picking it up.
I don't need to get GH:WT since my best mate has it already.
Yes?
It's an awesome game, and I think it holds up better than Guitar Hero in term of note charts.
I'm sure the fellow Aussies in the forum can comment on how the DLC is doing, if it's any different than your American counterparts.
If you like rhythm games, it's a safe bet that'll you enjoy Rock Band.

I don't know when it comes out, but you may want to wait for Rock Band 2. It has a lot more songs. Also, its drum set is way better. (Drums are arguably the most fun part of the game so this is important.)

Buy Rock Band and play online with Penny Arcade people.
You may substitute the phrase "Rock Band 2" in place of "Rock Band" at any point in the above guide.
Feral on
every person who doesn't like an acquired taste always seems to think everyone who likes it is faking it. it should be an official fallacy.
Buy just the game itself for now, or maybe the game plus a guitar if you're planning on playing by yourself. For full-band fun, you can just borrow your friend's stuff, the GH:WT gear is all compatible with Rock Band 1 and 2. Then when Rock Band 2 does come out, get the full kit, because the RB 2 drums beat the tar out of the RB1 or GH:WT drums, and pay the $5 to copy all of the RB1 songs into RB2. Best of all worlds: instant gratification, all the music, and the best instruments.

Why are we still talking about this?
(Actually, I agree with Qingu, wait for RB2. I like RB1's song selection better, but RB2 has better hardware and you can import the songs).

the "no true scotch man" fallacy.
RB2 probably won't be coming out in Australia until September or October, though.
I guess it is also a matter of how much disposable income the OP has.
The GH:WT instruments for the Wii aren't compatible with RB1. They work fine with RB2 though.
