I don't want you to stop playing Halo, Fyre. I already miss your band terribly in RB2. :(

60GB ps3 still working despite having a penny stuck inside the bluray drive for a few months.

    This really needs some explanation.

If it's anything like growing up in the 80's, a younger cousin/brother/sister stuck pennies inside to make the thing go.

Close, my then 2.5 year old son shoved a couple of coins in the the slot loading drive. I was able to get most out since they were stuck in the dirt trap near the front but the penny was all the way in. The console worked fine for a few months (just couldn't use it in the vertical position) but then after moving it the penny got into a bad position and scratched a disc. So I said enough is enough I'm going to get the penny out even if I void the warranty... Thankfully all that was required was to pick it up with the drive facing down and give a bunch of hard smacks on top.

Let me tell you about Demon's Souls....
I’ll tell you what happens in Demon’s Souls when you die. You come back as a ghost with your health capped at half. And when you keep on dying, the alignment of the world turns black and the enemies get harder. That’s right, when you fail in this game, it gets harder. Why? Because fuck you is why.

Yeah except that when you add the HDD its now 2/3 the price of the other system. (Just bitter that I waited too long to get the cheap refurb 20G drive from MS and had to pay $99 for the 60GB)

I ordered the refurb hard drive a week ago. Of course, it was DOA and I had to go through a ton of crap just to send it off and have them (hopefully) fix it and send it back to me in three weeks, but I was able to order it. I think you can do it as long as you haven't plugged a HDD into it at some point.

No man, I tried to do it on Saturday but when I went to webpage it had changed saying that the promotion had ended Jan 30th. (Friday the day before) I was pissed.

And this 360's saga has come to an end. Went to play some BTB tonight and..

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=56JsPQwcPBk

So it looks like I'll get it replaced under warranty since MS extended the E74 to 3 years coverage.

Don't know if the disc eating and E74ing are related, but I ain't going to worry. I'll update if Microsoft tries to weasel their way out of this.

fakeedit: i muted most of that video due to lots and lots and lots of cursing.

I recently noticed that my copy of Halo 3 has a nice circle carved into it all the way around the bottom of the disc - that's what everyone means when they talk about 360s scratching discs, right? It still works, though.

Please tell me this was a very very recent change. My 360 died back in March, E74 and when I went to request a repair they laughed and told me to give them $100. I bought an Arcade in April instead.

    Mother.
    Fuck.

All the swearing I did when I first posted that is now justified.

Doesn't help the sting, though. What's worse is that I transferred all my DLC over so if my Arcade does crap out I have to wait a year to play all my goodies without being on Live.

True, but, and its sad I'm saying this, the way my Arcade is working now, repairing and keeping it as a backup might not be a bad idea. It speaks volumes when keeping a second syste maround to fall back on is an acceptable idea.
I mean, my first playstation was, at one point, almost nothing but components. No cover (something had broken/I was a stupid kid). I lodged a piece of corn dog stick under the switch so it would think the lid was closed, set the reader somewhere it wouldn't scratch the disk when it spun and the fucking thing worked fine, completely exposed.

Yet the 360 overheats to the point of melting the soldering inside it? That is balls lavender, buddy.
