Sega CD bitten the dust?

I recently pulled my Sega CD out of storage, having recently picked up quite a few new games for it. However, I'm finding it's being much more fussy then it used to be.

Sometimes it won't recognize game discs being put into it, other times I may get to the title screen or main menu but end up crashing the system before I get much further. I remember it working fine at my old place, but I wonder if something might have happened to it on the move to my current residence. Although that's the pessimist in me, the optimist saying the lens might be dirty.

Would anyone have any advice? Would buying a simple lens cleaner do the trick or might there be potentially more problems inside?

The model I'm using is the first, front-loading system, Model #1690

Using a lens cleaner couldn't hurt. Supposedly, Model 1s have trouble with newer games, like Eternal Blue era ones.

I think Sega will still actually repair old systems. I know they repaired my Dreamcast a year or so back for a pretty reasonable price.
