new hp laptop...did I buy a lemon ?

So yeah, I just scored an HP Pavilion dv4-1275mx from best buy at a phenomenal price due to gift cards, coupons, angel's blood. Um, I took the fucker to work and let it charge for like 3 hours before cracking it open and pressing the glorious power button but all I get is the sound of a fan spinning up and stopping and intermittent flashing lights by the caps lock and scroll/num lock. WTF. Help. Please.
