So one of my friends is having a birthday and we decided to make it a more or less rave type of party. I have some music already but when dealing with music there is never enough, so i need some recommendations. What im looking for is, of course techno (stuff like the horrorist mostly), good club music like cascada or basshunter, and anything with a good electronic beat like the medic droid, rediscover, hit the lights, action action, or anything within that category. I know thats kind of broad but thanks for the help!
First I'd like to point you to a website called: www.di.fm I use that site for my techno needs. If you use winamp it will tell you the name of the artist and the song and then you can use that to search for them online.
For the (extreme) catchy dance stuff look up Scooter and sample a couple of his tracks. This is bordering on some happy hardcore stuff (not that there's anything wrong with that, I love the stuff), but you brought up Cascada, so yeah...
Finally Benassi is always good for the rave atmosphere. Satisfaction will no doubt be familiar to most of your guests already, but he has other quality material.
Faithless is both good and generally has a pretty good mass appeal. Some of their tracks are staple electronic tracks that you already know from jingles/movies/etc.. (Insomnia in particular).
edit.. Underworld is also pretty awesome though again fairly mainstream and stuff you've likely heard in backgrounds before. Don't know how obscure you want to go. Global Underground: Deep Dish - Moscow is pretty good if you want less recognizable tracks.

OK you had me at horrorist, but then I was like "wait, who are these other guys, am I that old?"
So I checked them out
Please
For me
Never, ever, ever, ever, ever, I mean ever, associate cascada or basshunter with the phrase "good club music" and medic droid, rediscover, hit the lights, action action, call them techno pop or something, but never associate that with rave music or a party you even remotely call a rave
Else this raver geriatric is going to have to kill himself with a hammer
Cascada and Basshunter is spiky hair, gold chain crowd stuff.
These guys.
You want better than that.
If we're going to go modern, Deadmau5, Kaskade (see, that's mainstream, and yet, still doesn't suck!)
Carl Cox (well, djing, the track is Marko Nastic and Billy Nasty - Talks DOS)

Warp Brothers - Blade Theme is a common rave song.
Also, really anything by Paul Oakenfold.
Paul Van Dyk - Not quite as dance oriented, but quality beats none the less.

Angel Beats - You Make My Dreams But this song is vocal, and I'm not sure how you feel about that.

The best trance DJ mix ever is Sasha & Digweed's Northern Exposure 2. This is not opinion, this is scientific fact.
Also, anything by Antiform, Klute, Phesta, Future Prophecies, and Hybrid.

It's not really classic euro trash
It's more like if you threw dancehall, some african pop, and brazilian baile funk together and added some daft punkness.

My god, I never thought posting techno would make me feel old, but it does.
Anyway, posting Faithless without throwing in Insomnia? For shame, for shame!
