The Guiding Principles and New Rules document is now in effect.
I'm currently putting together a little cart with an LCD projector and speakers as a portable home theater setup. Right now I'm using a Bose Wave Radio that I stumbled into for free, but it's really a piece of garbage. Compact garbage that provides a strong midrange for movies, but garbage none the less.
I'm looking for a set of speakers, ~$100, that will give me some good, full sound in a small form factor. I am not looking for accurate sound reproduction, but I'd like something clear that can fill a room. I'd like real bass but not so much that the cart will shake its self apart.
I'm looking at low-end computer 2.1 setups, but I'm not sure what's good. It's pretty important that the setup is relatively compact. I have no exact dimensions since I can build the cart around the speakers, so don't make size a huge priority.
