Sculpting!

I'm no Scotty.

Things I've learned:

1. clay can collect lint out of thin air.
2. New paint brushes have many loose bristles.
3. I need a new camera.

4. references are surprisingly easy to find if you keep your eyes open.

Now, I know the dimensions are not the same as my own thumb, even though that was what I was aiming for. Secondly, a thumb is kind of boring to sculpt, so I took the liberty of bending my thumb in all different directions in order to see more definition.

P.S. WIP
Also this thread can be used for general discussion about sculpting.

That's pretty cool. What type of clay are you using?

It's a bit lumpy on the front mass of the thumb, and the cuticle is really very thick. You should study anatomy and do life drawings.

Your face is lumpy on the front!

    *runs away crying*

Seriously though, that lumpy part shows up when I bend my thumb. I agree with the cuticle part, though.

I think I'm going to spray paint it or something in order to hide the lint.

You know, if you cook it, the lint might just burn away on its own...

Thumb's in the oven. Here's something else I've started. If you want an idea how it will end, do a google image search for cordyceps.

Oh good. I was hoping I was thinking of the right fungus.

I decided to try super sculpey. Here is megaman:

Shitty picture, I know. I think I like sculpey for some things, super sculpey for others. Also, I'm finding that working small has its advantages.

Why does mega man look like he just snapped his fingers three times in a Z pattern at some punk ass scrubs?

You ever thought about changing up you schtick once in a while? You're getting kind of boring.

    You two are cute.

Is that head going on the previously posted body?

Actually, I did think about bulking up that original body and turning it into a chibi-mega man, since the head is about two-thirds as tall as the body itself. I guess I'll have to do it now.
